I have always enjoyed really old cemeteries. The headstones, statues, and little poetry down below....and some of the detailed art work on some is amazing for way back then. There is an old one kinda close to where I live....and there are two large half shells, and in each one is a wrapped baby (all in stone), beautiful in detail. Another is a tall statue of a woman from the late 1800's, and it reads: "Here lies the most perfect woman. Friend, wife, mother...here is perfection. Wait for me my love." Wow..imagine being loved so much.

I know homelessness is a problem in uk cities but the disrespect for the dead is appalling. The police or council should be doing something about this desecration.

What, you mean like giving the homeless somewhere else to go? You know, paying a little respect to the LIVE people.... Cos I gotta say, people don't sleep in cemetaries cos its a fun wheeze.... they do it because they have to, and Karen comments like yours don't help ANYone.

I don’t see it as disrespectful, just my opinion. A lot of homeless people fear being robbed and attacked. They’ve got no help. 💕

Fugit Hora is Latin for Time Flies. Often mentioned on graves with the hourglass motif to symbolize mortality. Sometimes, the inscription also reads Tempus Fugit, which has the same meaning. Request you to do a tour of graves with symbols like the Masonic symbols. Thank you.

Really cool cemetary! One of those stones said Alexander Pitcairn. I thought (maybe) he was connected to Pitcairn Island, instead that was named after Robert Pitcairn who sadly was lost at sea a few years after. Alexander was an English Cricketer who won in (9) 1st class matches 1750-1814 ( if its the same guy)?
