You are becoming more and more a Hiby fanboy😃 Well...if they're good they're good. I much prefer the new design and cleaner look. Having the pleasure of trying the RS8 I was indeed "mesmerized" by the soundstage, ANOTHER LEVEL. If this baby can add some speed and transparency while only losing a little bit of space...I'M SOLD! Although it's hard to understand how is it possible for such a small unit to rival way bigger desktop designs with discrete components. That would be a engineering marvel!

Great review Sando, your high praise of the DAC section have me intrigued. I use a Shanling M3X DAP connected via USB to a Douk Audio U2 Pro XMOS XU 208 Digital Interface that outputs I2S to an original Topping D90 DAC. How would the single ended line out of the R8 II compare to that chain feeding a Keces E40 integrated amp? How about compared to a Hiby R6 III DAP directly connected to a Gustard R26 DAC via USB also feeding the E40? Will the CR08 dock enhance the sound quality. Thanks.

@Soundnews: Hello, would this DAP be an overkill with my current headphones: Aune AR5000, Meze 109 Pro, MYER-AUDIO SLIIVO SL-41 IEM? Maybe I'm looking also into FiiO FT5, i don't know? Could you give me your opinion please?

Imho other manufacturers should also implement Fiio M23's desktop mode feature. Good for longevity once battery of the player becomes a bloated mess.

Thank you for review. How is Hiby R8 ii compatible with Sennheiser ie900? Do you think it is better than "Astell kern se200"? I will be very happy if you answer.

Do you consider the Hiby R8 I superior in sound quality than the Sony NW-WM1AM2? I do own the uncapped version and sounds amazing… but even uncapped, the power for some headphones isn’t enough… what are your thoughts?

I wonder if the lack of volume wheel affects the audio quality. That is regarding the beleive that analogue volume controls/ potentiometers should bring superior sound quality.

Hi Sandu want to hear your opinion between Susvara or Meze Elite I have Aune S17 pro and denafrips Ares 2 i listen to everything but mostly EDM & ROCK. also great review always enjoying your content

Hi mate, for this particular setup I would get the Elite. Taming the Susvara and unleashing their true potential would cost you so much more.

I notice you mention Liric 2, is a review coming? Would love it if you can expand more on their treble, as reviews have been conflicting (some says too much, some says laid back--surely it can't be both).

Yep, in about 2 weeks or so. Still need to measure them. But initial impressions are very strong: No longer as bright and itchy as the Liric 1 (more natural treble rendition by a good deal) and also the soundstage is literally twice the size of the original Liric (my biggest gripe). The price remained unchanged, BUT there's a high-quality OCC cable included in the package, which wasn't there with the Liric 1 (this cable alone costs $270), so the improvements are there and I can finally recommend the Liric 2

Definitely Liric II is warmer and more musical then gen 1. The original Liric always sounded metallic and harsh to me. Not at all the case with the new model, without lacking details or becoming too dark.

I still think dca/Mr speakers e3 will be better deal than liric 2.

How do you compare it to R6 pro 2 ? And is it an over kill to use this only with iems ?

It depends. With high-end IEMs, the difference would be there and you won't need minutes to hear the improvements coming at you. However, with affordable (read: not very resolving) IEMs, I would remain at the PRO II which still offers an unbeatable value. In your stead, I won't upgrade unless you own at least a pair of high-end IEMs or one or two desktop cans.

I can't even imagine if hiby worked with questyle to design a device which will have hiby current mode r2r dac with questyle current mode amplification. Just imagine. 🤔

AK is no longer considered that good now. After the chip factory burnt down in Korea, things were never the same again. Now a lot of the players just superseded them. Hiby is getting better and better. The RS8 is very good and worth the value now

I had it ,very good but still far from the best, this opinion in my point of view puts in risk all the reviewes of this site, the sound is all but natural, even Ibasso dc elite is more natural
