Hiby FC4 - Quality Hardware & Poor Software (Firmware V1.12 fixed all remaining issues mentioned)

(There has been a new firmware since this review. The new firmware is V1.12 and has a tool that actually works. Use Google translate on your phone to read the options and the update process should be a breeze. The new firmware resolved all the left over minor issues mentioned in this video. KZread works perfectly regardless of the phone I use and everything is stereo and pop free. The only problem left is if you unplug it from your phone and plug it back in too quick. It still won't turn on and requires a 5 second period after unplugging it before plugging it back in for it to turn back on. As long as you wait that 5 seconds or so it will work every time. This update and it's new msrp of $70 has made this my number one recommendation for quality powerful audio. I may do a quick update video to explain more but this is now a must buy device.)

I've had this for about a month now. Bought an upgraded USB C cable and started with that cable for about a week. There was extra noise and I thought it was the actual unit. Went back to stock cable and it all cleared up. Don't use the software but I've thoroughly enjoyed the dongle. I use them for 7hz timeless on a Samsung Galaxy s20 ultra. Turned Dolby Atmos off for a less filtered experience as the hiby comes across clear. Thanks for the review.
wow I just change my order from Fiio KA3 to this because my reason that it is not plug and play on windows, just waiting for this to be delivered. I already downloaded the firmware files. now I am more excited!
can u do like a tutor on the Update, you're content is great and when I bought my FC4 I have the same issue and I'm strugglin' rn 😂

Sorry for the delayed response. I will try once I get some free time but there is a new firmware V1.12 that doesn't have the issues I mentioned in this video. It fixes all the leftover problems from the update I discussed in this video. If you use your phone for Google translate to read the update tool options you should have no issues upgrading anymore. I hope this new update version helps you.
Unfortunatelly in my case, no matter what I do, my firmware upgrade always fails once it reaches 10% (I`ve also tried to upgrade from 1.09 to 1.10 before upgrading to 1.12, but the outcome is the same)...reached their support and their reply was "use another computer and try again..."

It was also on Windows 7 and usb 2.0, I did the same on Windows 10 and usb 3.0, everything worked out (I think it's about the usb port), maybe this will help you.

BEST REVIEWER FOR ME AS OF NOW! : -) Michael Hatch HELPED ME TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX MY GARBAGE (HORRIBLE SOUNDING) HIBY FC4 WHICH I THOUGHT WAS DEFECTIVE. no one else is aware and /or talking about the subject. they r reviewing hiby fc4 and concluding: "a gerat dongle" how can an out of factory (software-)defective dongle sounding wierd can be great? ......... ı learned that all new version hiby fc4 s with "....19"chip r like this from his video(old versions/produced before 2023 were with "....18"chip) THEN I LEARNED THAT IT CAN BE FIXED WITH THE LATEST FIRMWARE UPDATE FROM HIS COMMENTS. AND DID IT AND NOW I HAVE A GREAT SOUNDING DONGLE : -)

@@mrcrunch8000 how do I update the firmware if I dont know chinese.. the firmware tool wont find the usb and I tried the DFU or whatever and its all chinese lol

The dac doesn't sound nearly as good as my smsl po100 AK but that's the difference in just 2 years in dac chip technology

I updated it right after seeing you comment. The tool provided with the v1.12 update actually worked, and it seems to have fixed all the remaining minor issues I had with the FC4. KZread finally works perfectly, and that initial pop seems to be gone. From my short use with it after the update it seems to be perfect now.

Didn’t work on mine. It’s 9219 and think it’s on 1.08 fw. It fails the 1.12 fw. Also on iPhone 3 pro maxx if you get to 50% or below battery it won’t power it. Also the balanced 4.4 output is mono. Someone on Amazon mentioned this and a simple right/left KZread test confirms this.

@ralphbrewster3241 iPhone has a power limit on its output and can't supply the fc4 with enough power.

That sucks and annoying cause it’s my only dongle that does it. My fiio KA13 has 200mW more power and has no issues with phone power.
