Very satisfied. Got M300 several weeks ago, changed from hardly used in 2-1/2 year old SONY NW-A105. For literal walking around-pocket and some travel use. The SONY did not cut it. I took full 512 Gb card out of the SONY and put it in the M300. Am still setting up songs in playlists on the HIBY (as it is more MP3 than hi-res files, i have 27k tracks). I have a large Fiio player too. for stay at home use; connection to full size headphones or component stereo.

Looking forward to more detailed sonic impressions and comparisons in the full review...

Updated to the latest firmware 1.30 but quick share still not working, help?? Sometimes it will begin to send to the hiby frm my fold 4, either go to te end or stop quarter of the way and will keep contiuining to "send" and then cancel.

Can I listen to FM radio via Bluetooth by inserting a cable into the jack?

This reminds me of the early Xperia XZ series! Nice budget DAP but I need that 4.4 jack :( 2000mAh for an Android DAP would be a problem too. Though as long as you're not using this like a phone, it'll be enough somehow.

So far in my experience, the battery has been very good even when using it like a phone. But definitely set your expectations as it lasts probably as long as an iPhone 5

I was transferring music for 2 days!! From one card to another for my m300 and r3 and it still didn’t move all the files 😂 after that I just popped the sd card out of my r 5 and put into the m300. Something must be up with sd card as it didn’t move all the files over. I scanned it and it said it was okay not corrupted but something is deft wrong with it to not move all of them.

I have an Iphone 15 pro right now, will I notice difference with that DAP compared with my iphone?

If you're using the stock apple dongle, yes you might be able to hear the difference compared to your iPhone :)

This or the R3 II for someone entering the DAP scene and is more interested in accurate audio (Drum & Bass music)? Looking forward to the review.

If you want the most accurate audio and don't really care about functionality, I'd definitely go for the R3 II. That plays bit perfect and is more powerful while producing a more neutral sound IMO

I’d say that depends on your user case: if you want the DAP to stream from services like Apple Music or Spotify, you’ll need an Android based device like the M300. If you have your own library, then the R3 is better from a sound quality perspective

I might look at this series if they release M300 Pro in the future.

Yes, but only though apps like Wavelet if you're streaming. Otherwise, HiBy Music app's EQ works perfect with Bluetooth headphones. I personally use a pair of Soundpeats Life and have the perfect MSEB EQ while using HiBy Music and I cannot use the Life without it anymore lol

hello there! How is the bluetooth performance on this device? Can you usee it as a receptor for a smart tv or PC, just like the qudelix 5k or fiio BTR5? Also, is it possible to use the M300 as a usb dac for a PC? I am considering going for a small android dap to replace my Shanling M0 pro, the tiny screen ended up being a dealbraker for me, otherwise its a great device. I am right now considering the M300 or the shanling M3X. Wich one do you guys think Its a better all round device to use as music player (flac files and spotify), Bluetooth receiver and USB DAC? I use mostly Iems like moondrop chu 2, 7hz dioko and ocasionally grado sr80x. Thank you

Hey there! The M300 is closer to a smartphone than a DAP, so you can expect its bluetooth performance to be very good. However, you cannot use it as a bluetooth receptor. It can only be used as a bluetooth source. Also, the M3X has been out for quite a few years and its 3200mAh and Android 7.1 will definitely cause compatibility issues down the line. I'd suggest the HiBy R5 II as it falls around a similar price but has a much larger battery and is on Android 8.1, so it should last you longer. Or you can also go just a little bit higher with the R6 III. Hope I helped!

Millenial here, im not interested on any of the apps. All i want is a good device to listen my music on. Anything good you guys would recommend to substitute my ipod(2007)? My ipod fell and the screen broke like 3 weeks ago

Definitely consider their non-android option, the R3 II. I'm also not a big fan of apps as I find them distracting and the R3 II has been an amazing device for the price. It's a solid modern rendition of the traditional music players of years passed.

why is it not possible to adjust the volume in spotify app? you need to close and then adjust volume? do you have the same problem?

Yep! The chip of the M300 brings out the details quite nicely! Unfortunately, due to the limitations of the Android platform, it can't really do apple lossless. It can do Tidal and Qoubuz as well as local file lossless, though!

I was bummed about that too. I hope they release a firmware update in the future that can add that as I use MSEB and EQ on their DAPs very frequently :(

@@obodioreviews I had to return mine. The volume rockers stopped working after a few hours. Yes I made sure the FN switch was not effecting it. I just hope mine was a rare issue with the rockers. All in All I was happy with it and I found adding a USB Dongle DA/AMP improved the soundstage and clarity.

Gen Z and most people aren't using this. They are happy with their phone and Bluetooth earbuds.

DAP was always a niche product. There are „Zoomers“ that want a better way listen to the strange music they like. And the price for this device is very reasonable

Yeah, I’m 50 year old high end music gear fan. Almost all the folks who are into this kind of gear that I know (in person and online) are my demographic/cohort, Gen X. Surprised to see a Gen Z reviewer calling it a Gen Z product. Folks get a standalone DAP for better music reproduction than a phone and dongle DAC. I also like that I’m not distracted/tempted by text/IMs constantly and can focus on music.

send mine back ....battery drain very fast, overheating and sound not better then an android with a DAC dongle

Damn 103mW is a joke

did not tell me anything I did not know.

This player is a garbage the build quality is terrible, at least in my case, the function button rattles like crazy, and the back cover at the very top, closer to the microphones, bends when pressed. About the software part, three days after purchase the applications started crashing totally waste of money
