The fact that he tells them it's a prank whether or not he succeeds in getting their number is not inconsistent with what he stated. To disprove the claim, you would have to demonstrate that if Cody could not reveal that the interaction was part of a prank, that he would still be able to talk to these girls confidently. (If it's still not clear, I believe OP's claim to be false, but your attempt to logically reject it was unsuccessful.)

The interaction at 1:58 was gold. Mainly because they were literally giving him nothing and he managed to keep it going for so long without it getting too uncomfortable. 90% of guys would have left that conversation within the first few seconds due to extreme awkwardness or not being able to handle the tension.
