i always wondered... did they get these extra vocal tracks from somewhere, did they receive them straight from NIN's distributors, did they have soundalikes record these, or did they deadass get NIN to record new vocals?

i really wonder that as well. like there’s a point at 3:44 where that vocal is not in the regular song. i have to imagine they just got them from the distributors or something, but idk much about that since there are parts not in the usual version of The Perfect Drug

can't say for sure, but my guess is that they slightly mix the song to fit the game and, sometimes, add more vocals (usually back vocals)

I wondered this too, and I think it's because there's a mix that the studios distribute when you buy the license to use it that you're able to "remix" things. I'm not in the industry, but I think that's how it works according to insiders?

you're actually correct, Guitar Hero/Rock Band are big examples when it comes to working with liscensing music, if you dump the music tracks you'll get separate instruments, straight from the studio

listening to the original version of the perfect drug, i think those are backing vocals from the song itself, they just made them louder for the second chorus, and solo'd some of them for the extended verses
