I don't know if my comment makes sense, but something I noticed about Kale's fighting style is that it's remarkably basic, especially when compared to how Chai and the rest of the team fights. All of the other bosses and player characters, save for Zanzo, had extremely physically demanding, high-energy fighting styles that look almost balletic in spite of the violent context they exist within. Even Roquefort put in the work to have lots of fast, dynamic, high-intensity moves despite being *fucking gigantic*. Kale's style has none of their flash or theatricality. All of his sword swings are extremely straightforward and amateurish, with him putting very minimal effort into his swings, and he mostly gets by through using cybernetic implants and drones to do the work for him by flash-stepping and attacking from a distance. Even his most powerful projectile attacks are largely done through extremely simple sword-swings. His fighting style is, to be blunt, kind of lazy. Which makes perfect sense, since Kale himself is pretty lazy and the antithesis of Chai, so he's going to have an equal but opposite fighting style that requires minimal effort on his end.

Well said. Chai loves to show off after all. I also like to think Kale is like what Chai could have been if he never developed. At the start, Chai was pretty lazy himself and trying to take shortcuts all the time. Kales body is basically just a shortcut to gain power.

Which is way funnier, because it means that Kale is a perfectly sensible, intelligent man who *constantly* sabotages himself *in spite* of that intelligence because he wants immediate results over anything sustainable.

It's something I thought as well. Even during his parry sequences it's just "Jump and swing", it's amateurish with no real practice. It's just strong with raw brute force because his tech is doing all of the work, but he himself isn't actually doing much.

The idea of Chai and Kale being mirrored oposits of each other is reinforced by their character design: Chai presents himself informaly, badly dressed, whilst Kale is refined; Kale's power is artificial, its source a giant generator, contrasting with Chai's clear passion for music; instead of allies, Kale has four artifical tentacles mirroring the capabilities of Chai's crew, which also represents Kale's manipulative personality and status, which are easily destroyed by the people which are supposed to substitute, like a house of cards collapsing due to the superficialiy and artificiality of its foundations. Kale is also assisted by 4 drones, cold and mass-produced, constrasting with 808, a creation made with passion, floofing with personality and uniqueness. I could go on Sufice it to say, the writters and character designers did a stellar job.

This is a fitting ending you not skipping the last part is welcome.

Lemme tell ya, getting high ranks actually seems to get HARDER as you go down in difficulties due to score requirements x-x

Not sure if you're aware but Arpeggio Stab can combo into other air combos without needing to magnet. Just input the first air attack two beats after the last heavy hit, as if it was all one combo. So full combo from ground is XXYYYXYYY (for harmonic beam)

I always heard it as “you are the perfectron” as he has a robot body and his arrogance but it’s actually saying “you are the perfect drug”
