Jonathan Han, Ed.M.'21, believes the art of teaching is about more than delivering content.
He says building interpersonal relationships and recognizing that students have different levels of understanding are part of his teaching philosophy. As a high school math teacher in Glen Rock, New Jersey, he wants every student, especially those claiming not to be a "math person," to break out of that bubble and see their true potential.
Han's teaching style was inspired by his own experience at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Han encourages curiosity, debate, and finding the most efficient solution method for each individual. In his classroom, Han helps his students realize there is more than one way to solve a problem and reach conceptual understanding.
