Most goats are at market weight in the 8-to-10-month range, although they can be butchered as early as 6 weeks. The Kalahari Red is a bit faster growing than most breeds and will reach market weight in the 6 to 9-month range.

Can these goats handle the cold Canadian winters?

Although the breed thrives in warmer climates, it can do quite well in cold climates also. For extreme cold, like what you probably are facing, you should have an adequate shelter where they can warm up.

They aren't always easy to find. Try searching for Kalahari red breeders in USA. There are a few out there.

@@HobbyFarmGuys I have positively found out through a genetic lab there has been no Kalahari red emported to the USA. Not from Australia, and south Africa is closed for emporting.

To find livestock in your area, I suggest joining Facebook pages. Often there are hobby farming pages set up for a particular area, and even pages set up for specific breeds of animal. The people on those pages can be very helpful.

Kids can be found in the $75-$100 range. Bucks are about $175 and does are about $200. Of course these prices can vary greatly based on where you are and availability at the time.

We don’t actually sell them. The price estimates I gave were based on asking people who know their goats.
