We hatched out our first Amerucana chicks on the 6th of April 2023. I'm looking forward to watching them mature.

Very appropriate and funny name!
Thank you for information on the Ameraucana hen, Mine has not started laying yet compared to my Rhode reds that have. They are all the same age so I was getting a little nervous and was wondering if I ended up with a rooster. lol.. I will be patient and hopefully something will happen soon !

Some of Steve’s favorite hens have been Ameraucana’s.
I just picked some up. Didn’t have golden comets like I wanted but are these pretty good layers?

You probably won’t get as many as you would with the golden commet, but they are pretty reliable layers, and you won’t be disappointed. Plus… The eggs will be blue!

@@HobbyFarmGuys sounds good! Thanks I’m excited to start being more self reliant!
i got a question..... we got some ameraucana at our local hardware store....they had other ones too in other places...as far as looks ours has no tail feathers and there about 4 weeks old is that common to have no tail feathers or did they mix them up
@HobbyFarmGuys

Some strains of Ameraucana will have shorter tail feathers, though it is quite possible they are actually Araucana chickens. Many retail stores that don’t know the difference will mislabel them.

Thank you so much!
Are or aren't broody???
@HobbyFarmGuys
Жыл бұрын
Generally speaking they will go broody and are good mothers. There are some strains however that seem to have lost much their broodiness, so it is hard to tell if the hens you get will go broody unless you know the characteristics of the line they came from.
26 weeks and no eggs lol
