How can yall not hear that he's playing Hey Joe? Can't you hear the chord changes and main melody in what he's playing? He's obviously doing an interpretation but it's all there

This ear can hear it brother, this ear can hear it. Sometimes I get lucky and he even listens. This artist requires listening to hear it
The drums! Wow! Incredible!
Hmmm, Exceptional guitar works, but this drumming is out of this world!! This jam sounds like a difficult conversation but at minute 5:30 till fade, the parties find an amicable agreement ! Totally enjoyed it
Jimi would have loved this I'm sure!!!💚👌Beautiful drums!
blown away by this interpretation. i actually only casually listen to jazz because its so hard to grasp the "ground" if that makes sense but i know hey joe so this one was super cool to figure out i really love it
What an ingenious treat this is! Lovin´ the African vibes in this.
Wow-love it!!
Insane interpretation and feel with added fx flavour. ❤🧡💛
Great experience Lionel i'm proud of you.
wow! just wow.
love it!
such a great artist !
Awesome
Fretless.......I have no words. That's pretty impressive.
Long time i have not been taken away like that !!!!
Very cool….killer drummer too

Dig it! Lionel
👏👏👏
I would love to play my bass with you and underscore you. This is the most fantastic thing I have ever heard. Thank you
I am so glad other people feel the same about you.
Summertime più che hey Joe ciao.
hey joe, you sound like summertime
It's funny to read these "specialists", talking nonsense... Probably they never listened Hey Joe 🙄🙄🙄 it seems these "specialists" haven't heard the word INTERPRETATION... Btw, great job Lionel Loueke 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Yeah, this is jazzy 👊🏾
Drummer from anummer planet!
Yeah, that's all well and good, but... Can you play??? That's a joke!!! I think I heard shades of Jaco in there. So, anyway. Hello from Dallas, Texas! I recently pulled the frets out of an Epiphone Les Paul Special. So much fun to play!

I also pulled the frets out of a guitar (Ovation Breadwinner) and filled in the slots with small pieces of walnut. It is fun to play, isn't it!? The lines of walnut help me to play in tune. Cheers from Montreal, Quebec!
Mad respect to both musicians. Great performance. Just saying, it is more "inspired by Hey Joe" than an interpretation of Hey Joe. I mean come on, it's only an interpretation of Hey Joe if it bears some resemblance to the original. It does not. Different chords, different progressions, no real melody, different rhythm, no lyrics, etc. There was one riff played once at the very beginning, never repeated, that was reminiscent of Hey Joe. Personally, I thought this sounded more like Stairway to Heaven. And also, Jumping' Jack Flash. And Sweet Emotion. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hey joe… lol… jazzy smoke…changîng our dealer
Hey joe is a Billy Roberts s song.
Reminds me very much of that old saying: "THERE IS NO GRAVIRTY-THE EARTH " "SUCK'S" "! Note the key applicable word in double quotation's!
The improvisation is so abstract - tonal, rhythmic, tempo, chord progression, phrasing - that the original only remains recognizable as an instrument, a guitar. The title of the piece is probably also improvised - it could just as easily be called any other title, or stairway to heaven.

Do you know this words? : "arrangement", "interpretation", "personalized cover"
Since 1976 l olay fretless guitar, dizayn of your guitar very good, also your playing. But you play the same things what you play ön your regular e guitar.. think about it , you feel may be different, what we hear is the same, some sleid things isnt enough. you need change the music system ,going ın touch non tempert points many many blue nots like ın makam music, with micro even nano tonal points ön your freet board, .. ear training.. so like this what you play is only a color.. fretless means endless, freedom on music for future,. good luck..

Nice your comment! Lionel is a great experimenter and I'm sure he always go through several musical languages. In this video Lionel plays for the 1st time ever a Fretless guitar (handmade by me) live... also he received the guitar about 15 days before this performance. Cheers! 🎸
Thats what i do every day on toilet
hey joe ?????
That's not a cover exactly, but great playing!
Great playing, but this has nothing to do with the song hey Joe. Just what he said: This is jazzy😎😎

@@billwhite9703 nah dude, i love this tune but it has very little to do with hey joe. It s like taking the color yellow, mix it with blue and say "this is not green, this is yellow!". Interpretation is a thing, but i wouldn t call this "hey joe".
It's a swing and a miss.
How to use huge technical level to destroy a song. Where is the heart and soul of hey Joe? Not there!

I think you are simply envious! Art is not judged! Either you like it or you don't, that's all. You, and someone else, have criticized a great interpretation of a great artist (J. H) honored by another great artist (Lionel Loueke who is playing his interpretation on a FRETLESS guitar. How sad are certain comments... please just follow "clone guitar players".

@@koolguitars You know you just invalidated your own point right? If you are right just because you like it, then the guy before you was also right even having the opposite opinion. I personally think this is a great impro and variation on the ubiquitous Hendrix song but it does sounds just like the drummer explained 'it's his first time playing that guitar on a gig'. It sounds unrehearsed and rough. You may like it roughness on art. That's valid. But you don't need to defend you preference by attacking others. As for the actual performance, sounds good and the chap seems a talented musician. Why can't we use our words and disagree politely?

@@OG_Mereles the guy in the comment above wrote: "How to use huge technical level to destroy a song." Does that sound like a sensible comment to you? polite? I do not think so. I can understand a guy saying "I like it" or "I don't like it" but I can't accept "he destroyed a song". I don't think he destroyed it at all! However, we are talking about Lionel Loueke who is Herbie Hancock's guitarist.
yessir ''hey JOE '' Just like JIMI ordered it ................................duuh ? WTF ?'' Hey JOE BIDEN'' Oh ,ok now I got it ?
