Hey Virginia: Historic Blue Ridge Tunnel

The commonwealth transportation board recently approved final funding to restore The Historic Blue Ridge Tunnel. The tunnel, located on Afton Mountain Virginia, was a Civil Engineering marvel, and at the time of it’s completion in 1858 was the longest tunnel in the world. Join us as we uncover the past and future of this Historic landmark of American Transportation

Thx so much PBS for filming this last adventure of the Tunnel the old way. It's great now, but they'll never be a trip through it like this again. Wading through frigid waters, crawling through slimy pipes and being oxygen deprived in the middle section! Cheers to all my trail mates that day!

This tunnel entrance was upstream of the place where a distant cousin and his family were living. Cholera that spread from Irish laborers working at the tunnel killed him, his wife, and four of his children in 1854.

Yeah, we figured some selfish, inconsiderate black person did that. Next, you'll be bitching about someone infringing on YOUR rights.
