    Sam has solved a perpetual maintenance problem we have been living with for the past 10 years. We are pleased with his solution. The next video will complete the work at our house. Susan and I are thankful that we were able to hire Sam to contract with and complete this job. He was a joy to work with.

    Hey thanks I appreciate it. Googlenet will say the material last around 20 years. But I'm sure that depends on thickness and the type of environment it's in. It is pretty tough stuff though...

    With this block, you do not have to put gravel and a drain pipe behind the block, but rather put the drain pipe directly underneath the block where it is cut out and fill the block with gravel. Fabric goes right up against the back of the block.

    Hey there I just found your channel a few days ago and I love it. Your living my dream. I’m planning to start buying mini equipment and start working for myself. So my question is what do you charge for this job? How that’s not too intrusive

  • @tristardiggin

    @tristardiggin

    Жыл бұрын

    Hey James, thanks and welcome to the channel! I love this kind of work as well. I have a video "How I Bid Excavation Jobs" that shares some info on how I look at jobs. I generally bid jobs by the day, based on 8 hr days. I have a set rate for the first day which has extra built in to help with moving equipment. Then a set rate per day for the following days. I will give folks a generally idea of how many days I think it will take. I have one day minimums on large equipment and 1/2 minimum on smaller equipment. This particular job is kinda hard to say what a good price would be because it had a lot of different things to do. You can contact me on Gmail and will try to help you out if I can. tristardiggin@gmail.com

    I'm using some 2300 lb concrete blocks for a wall that's going to be four or five rows high. I'm going to geogrid them back every 2 rows but what do you suggest I use for the footing? Just ab3 or a larger crushed rock?

  • @tristardiggin

    @tristardiggin

    Ай бұрын

    I have been using 57’s which is 3/4” rock. It does well. But next time I may try 89’s which is a much smaller rock and easier to spread and get level. It packs really well too. I used the 89’s for a footing on precast superior basement wall system. I really liked how they worked…
