The well-appointed market town in Northumberland’s Tyne Valley came top of Rightmove’s “happy at home” index, now in its 10th year, which asked more than 21,000 people across Britain how they feel about various aspects of where they live.

I’ve been here 12 years and it’s a great place to live and a great place to raise kids …
I'm guessing they haven't got much cultural enrichment.

Stop telling southerners about all the great places in the north. We've already got problems with escapees from London driving up the property prices in all the scenic parts of Yorkshire and Northumberland, and it's only going to get worse with the treasury moving up to Darlington.

I was born there but never actually lived there. Lovely town to visit though. If someone fancies gifting us a large farmhouse with space for a small holding I'd move there 😂

Try going to Hexham races in the winter. You will eventually thaw out.

Range of cheapest beer to more expensive than covenant garden London.
There is no McDonald's with in 20 miles of Hexham. Coincidence I think not. 60 minutes form the lakes and 20 from the Toon, what's not to love.

There is one reason that Hexam is such a great place to live I suspect and that is that the woke mob hasn't heard of it yet. I suggest that they keep a lower profile and don't attract so much notice of else they are doomed. Heartening to know though that some small enclaves of Britishness still exists it gives me a little hope.
