Hexagon with 3D Flower Motif

You will learn step by step how to crochet this hexagon with a 3D flower motif. The size of the flower can be changed depending on how many stitches you will increase on the width of the petal. Crochet along with me and you will learn all the details.
You will learn step by step how to crochet the 3D Hexagon with Flower Motif.
I also have a tutorial on how to make the 3D Half Hexagon:
• Half Hexagon with 3D F...
Here's the link on how I joined hexagons and half hexagons to make a blanket:
• Join 3D Hexagons into ...
I also have a written pattern you can buy from my etsy store here:
www.etsy.com/l...
With these hexagons you can make a blanket. I made a blanket with 32 hexagons and 6 half hexagons, measuring 5 feet x 6 feet. The yarn I used is Red Heart Super Saver (worsted weight yarn size #4) and I used approximately 18 balls of yarn, 7oz on each ball. The hook I used was a size 5 mm hook.
Now how big your blanket will be and what colors you use are entirely up to you. You can even use a different type of yarn, just note that thicker yarn makes bigger hexagons and thinner yarn will make smaller hexagons and that you have to adjust the size of hook accordingly. For you to have an idea on how much yarn you need, it's best for you to make 2 to 3 hexagons and take note at how much yarn was used. Then measure each hexagon and calculate how many hexagons you will need to make a blanket in a size you are interested in making.

    Hi can I ask if I wanted to make the motif smaller is it a case of using a smaller hook ?

  • @CrochetandBeyond

    @CrochetandBeyond

    2 жыл бұрын

    If you use a smaller hook the flower will be a little smaller, but not by much. There is a better solution to make the flower smaller. All you have to do is to skip one or maybe even two increasing rounds. On my motif I increased the Front Post Double Crochets on the petals until I had 13 FPDc on each petal. If you omit 1 increasing round you will stop at 11 FPDc on each petal. If you omit 2 increasing rounds you will stop at 9 FPDc on each petal. Once you reached the desired number of FPDc begin decreasing on the sides of the petals just how I showed on the video. Note that at the very end when you are doing a single crochet round around the entire flower, your number of stitches will be less than my motif. You will have to maintain that number of stitches consistent from flower to,flower so that when you are joining flowers, the sides should match stitch by stitch.

    How do you join these 6 sides together for a blanket. I have turned them every which way and they do not fit.

  • @CrochetandBeyond

    @CrochetandBeyond

    2 жыл бұрын

    Now here is the thing, I have not joined my hexagons yet, since I am still working on my motifs to make a queen sized blanket. I am not sure if I have the best answer for your question, however, here's a few things to consider: if you followed my tutorial and made the hexagon the same size as mine, then you should have 25 sc on each side, after completing the sc edging. To be more exact, each side has 25 sc and the point of the start has a chain 2 space. I will join motifs using sc and I will line up each hexagon's side by matching each sc from one motif with the sc of the other motif, wrong sides touching each other. Now joining hexagons is tricky because the joining is not going to be a straight line. So I am not sure how my joining will go, since I myself have not joined hexagons before. Now I have done a blanket joining squares. I made sure that on those squares each side had the same amount of single crochets, so when it came to joining them, they matched. Let me send you the link to that project next.

  • @CrochetandBeyond

    @CrochetandBeyond

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi there.. I don’t have an exact answer for your question. At this point I’m still working on my hexagons from a huge lot of yarn I was given by someone. So far I have made 23 hexagons and I need about 9 more, so 32 total or so. Plus some half hexagons to fill the sides. I also need to film a tutorial on those half hexagons. So far I know that 225g of worsted weight yarn (I’m using Red Heart Super Saver) makes two hexagons for sure plus some left over. My plan is to finish the blanket by end of January, and in February I’ll post a tutorial on making the 1/2 hexagons and another tutorial on how to put them together. Also, 32 hexagons will make a small lap blanket. Overall, these hexagons use a lot of yarn. Hope this helps 🙂

    Hello, thanks for the feedback. I have not programmed CC into the video. The CC you are following is auto generated and I have no control over it.. however it writes everything I'm explaining. So if you are watching from a phone it might be difficult to follow if you are trying to depend on CC only. You might want to use a headset or, watch from a computer maybe, so that what I am saying is clearer for you to understand. Or, turn off the CC..but then you have to listen closely and follow along doing the project with me. As for decreasing round, on this example, I start decreases after round 7 (when you have 13 Front Post Double Crochet on the petal). I do not have a PDF available. As for words in the screen, on this video will not be possible since once the video is published I can't fix anything. I have other projects that were published after this #D motif, and I have added more words. Hope it helps. All best!!
