Heureka by Jean Tinguely at Lake Zürich, Switzerland

"Heureka" was described as a machine without a purpose. I saw this in 1964 when it was first erected. Over 50 years later, it's still not accomplishing anything useful. But, I think it is not purposeless. (The percussive underscoring is my own. The machine does not produce musical notes.)

I wish one could buy a miniature version of this (or any of Tinguely's work), it looks so cool...and it a 4D art with its movement dimension. I adore Tinguely! :-)

There is a museum dedicated to Tinguely in Basel, Switzerland, but I don't recall that there were any miniatures available...

@@JWGrum I checked the museum online...it was interesting to see the early machines working and moving. In another YT video the restaurators couldn't even figure out how to restore a certain machine...nevertheless, the museum could have copied some of them as small machines for sale. Al they need is a 3D printer and some talented guys. Or they could just sell sets of parts and motors for DIY projects. Instead of this they're just fooling around not really wanting to offer more. I guess they are not in the league of Tinguely himself...think, what HE could do now, with 3D printing...
