The question is simple. Let's say you get 60m to 70m from selling Sonny, how certain are you to replace him with winger/forward that can give you 27g/a a season? Plus, all the money that Sonny brings in through his popularity. Replacing Sonny with 60m to 70m is almost impossible.

You have to keep in mind in your hypothetical we are not replacing peak Son, 2017 Sonny. We're replacing a 32-year-old who has already lost a yard of pace. A truly ruthless rebuild would cash in now. That's just the way it goes.

You’re going to be wasting a lot of time trying to figure out why DL wants to sell . Unless he wants to divulge his numbers so all of the “ quarter back “ accountants can figure out or attempt to figure out what’s happening let’s try and stick to football in it’s pure form even with the apparent “ impurity “ in the League right now . Some times I wonder about all of the the Social Media channels that throw out information that you have to wonder what drugs they are on , but of course I have to remind myself that people create these channels “ to make money “ so putting out a boring show won’t create revenue . I have my Tottenham channels down to two which currently you are one the rest of them to quote “ you can put a line through “ . What would make a great show is DL commenting on some of this speculation so go ask him for an interview all he can say is Yes or No but certainly worth a try .

@@SpursTalkShow correct, Arsenal and Liverpool have won trophies in that spell and we haven’t. Even some pretty poor Man United teams have managed to get a cup or two over the line in the last 10 years or so. Our fluffy ‘let’s buy average young players we can develop that hardly any other club of repute shows interest in’ policy which led us down the path of the likes of N’Jie, N’koudou, Clarke etc has unsurprisingly not paid off. I’m not saying we should be spending £60m on every Martial or Endrick who sets foot on a football pitch aged 18, but the calibre of player we try to develop has too often been under-par.

Believe that the best team captains should play in midfield or centre defence preferably. Not playing up front or in goal (Lloris) we’re you have no impact on the play . Why the so-called ripping up a contract is a fallacy, and fans should cease the regurgitating of said talking points when they are not happy especially with players on large wages, and that is it usually a mutual agreement often times benefiting the player as it does with firing a manager. There are reasons the likes on Ozil and Pepe sit until the club find a home or until they reach a reasonable juncture to enter into pro-rating. "Mutual" is to add respect to the transaction, but the club is never in the driver's seat on Termination unless there are breaches.

Sonny has historically and as recently as January 2024 before the Asia Cup break been statistically the best finisher in the Premier League (out scoring XG) he finished 2023/2024 as the fourth best finisher in the league. Two of those above him beat the statistics with unusually prolific spells Mateta (16) and Hudson-Odoi (8) both of whom had artificially low XG’s and scored less than Sonny. Only Foden (19) was a superior finisher in the best team in the league (Sonny might have done better in that team). Absent Foden only Michael Olise as a replacement when fit could rival Sonny’s finishing stats. Summing up, don’t sell Son!

Like many of the politics we are dealing with right now I like to stay on the right side of history. The chaos around FFP should vindicate Levy to Tottenham fans, we have had steady consistent growth as a club and have done so sustainably, avoiding legal troubles. I think we should feel blessed to have owners that look out for the clubs future.

Bookmarks. Taking it to the next level. Thanks. Good to see Royal sold. Geertruida would be good but it sounds like a lot of competition. Spurs not going for Solanke, too much and club won't pay it. Toney or Gimenez sound the most likely strikers. I wish spurs went after Gyokeras but one can dream.

He shouldn’t be hated by people for doing his very best by the rules whilst others are ignoring them completely. Maybe he was naive but he should be applauded for the approach, his execution and his integrity. If Chelsea and city also get away with their historical charges then we may as well pack up and go home

@@SpursTalkShow Sean, I have watched your contributions all season and value your constructive and intelligent insights. May be just me but during the course of the season I became fed up with Jonny’s negativity when Spurs began losing, particularly his anti Ange, anti Johnson, anti whoever approach. Viewers want honesty but they want constructive opinions too. They seek ideas on how we can improve. And they want some positivity in our ‘dark moments’. I’ll continue to watch you and hit the ‘like button’ but be selective when guests are involved. 😘

Unpopular opinion: I would like Toney and want him in a spurs shirt, but I don’t think his character is going to pass Ange’s test. There have been reports about attitude problems, that plus betting (I get that the betting side of things is an addiction, this is not intended to downplay that).
