Hesco L210s: Are Special Threat Plates Right For You?

When it comes to body armor there are a lot of products to sort through, from steel to ceramic, Level II, III, III+ and more. Pricing varies just as much. Everyone wants as much protection as they can afford, but is the NIJ rating everything? Special Threat armor is a separate classification apart from a simple Level III or IV. These plates are designed to protect from a more specific subset of cartridges, and may not pass the specific test rounds from the NIJ. The Hesco L210s are one such special threat option, and while they may not technically classify as a Level III plate, they still offer a surprisingly attractive range of protection, and aren't to hard on the operator, or their wallet. Check out the video to see if Special Threat armor might be right for you!

Thanks. Would be nice if you put it in a carrier to see how it fits. Maybe compare it to a SAPI cut. Or different plates in general.

Check out our video on the Esstac Daeodon rig. It’s not the focus of the video but the plates are installed in a TRex Arms AC-1!

I'm glad that you brought up what hesco actually says. To many youtubers are shooting them with like 10+ rounds when they're only rated to stop 3 rounds. Anything after that is bonus also a bunch of you tubers are shooting it with m855A1 which it isn't rated for and they'll be shooting out of 20+ inch barrels and than trash the plate for not stopping it when it exceeds the maximum rated velocity hesco designed them to stop at. Edit: I watched farther in and saw hesco now states that they're rated for the m855A1. Originally when people were testing them about a year ago they weren't rated for them.

Thanks for the comment Kevin. We like to state exact specs for gear like body armor where it really does matter that you understand the exact level of protection you’re getting.
