Hertford Classic Bus Running Day 2024

Vintage London Greenline and London Country buses were out in Hertfordshire recreating long gone past routes from Hertford to Buntingford, Knebworth, Broxbourne, Much Hadham and Cuffley. The event organised by Amersham & District Motor Society featured a variety of vehicles from Routemasters, RT's, RF's and Leyland Nationals many of which would have operated in the area.
What a superb day this was helped by some decent weather. There was also a programme you could buy to support the event which was very informative giving a history of the old routes and great photos.
The action starts at Hertford North where a number of buses can be seen arriving and departing from East Station.which is the main focus of the action. I took a few trips on RF13 and GS 13 to Nup End and Knebworth where the film ends. It was sunny but quite windy at times which I hope will not spoil your enjoyment.
Many thanks to the society for their hard work in putting on this event and to all the bus owners for some superb trips. If you want to find out about the society then check out their website at amershammotorbus.co.uk/events as they have some other events later in the year.

What a great video, I used to catch a 310 from Mill Lane Cheshunt to Waltham Cross in the early seventies to go to work in Key markets. Usually an RT, or an RF on Sundays. And we used to go up to Oxford Street on the 715 Green line, usually that was an RM. Happy days.

Great video. I really enjoyed watching it. @craigsibley8161 said "I've always preferred the look of the green London buses over the red." I do think the buses in this video look splendid in their two-tone green. When I see them I'm reminded of the late 1960s film "Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush" (Barry Evans, Judy Geeson and Angela Scoular), which is set in Stevenage and features at various points the London Country buses running the town service. I'm originally from the West Midlands where up until the early 1970s the country buses were the opposite to those around London - they were bright scarlet red all over (the operator was actually called Midland Red). In contrast the urban services in Birmingham, the centre of the region, were much more sober in navy blue and cream - they always looked very smart though.

Old enough to remember GS13 being used on the 333 round Cowper Crescent.....but only when it had snowed as it was the only bus that could get up Port Hill, struggling to recognise the area around Hertford East station though

They were not able to use Hertford Bus Station as the area is currently under redevelopment so they held it at Hertford East Station which seemed to work out well.
