Heroic Dad Dives Over Fence to Rescue Toddler in Pool

They're calling this man "SuperDad" after he saved his son from possibly drowning in a pool. Albert Passavanti didn't hesitate when he saw his 1-year-old son, Rocco, fall into the pool. He leaped over a safety fence and into the pool to rescue his baby boy. Passavanti told Inside Edition that his son was in the water for a few seconds, but it was still scary. "You have got to get to him as quickly as you possibly can," he said. "You just absolutely have to keep an eye on your kids. I don’t care what measures you have in place." #InsideEdition

When I was 18 months old I just walked into a pool. We were visiting friends who had a pool. My dad was leisurely doing the side stroke at the time and saw me so headed towards the side of the pool even though he didn't think I would walk in. I did without even a pause. Thankfully he was close enough to immediately catch me. Never assume anything when it comes to small children.

You’re not kidding. One night, when my son was five, I caught my son when he fell down the steps. All I remember is standing in front of my television, then hearing him stumble at the top of the steps. The next thing I remember is holding him halfway up the steps, after I caught him. For the life of me I cannot recall getting from the television to the stairs, nor do I remember actually catching him. My son, who’s now 10, will occasionally bring it up and ask what I was thinking when it happened. I’ll tell him that I have no recollection of what was going through my head at that moment. That had to have been the fastest I ever moved in my life. So, yeah, that adrenaline rush is no joke at all.

I think it’s more impressive that he jumped over and got to his son sooner than running around and going through the gate. The baby is small, and I’m assuming the baby did not think that he’d suddenly not be able to breathe and could swallow and breathe in a lot of water. The extra second or two for the dad to run around that gate, jump in and get to the kid could be enough time for the baby to swallow too much water for his little lung capacity

American media when family white: they did everything... That dad became Superman! Reality: probably drinking and was reckless. The pool was easily accessible for the child. That family is lucky their son didn't die. Pretty sure if that was a black family social services would be knocking on the door for child endangerment.

Yeah, watch your kids go near an area you don't want them to go to. The dad was an idiot, he clearly saw the kid go and didn't immediately remove him. So many things he could have done instead of leave the gate open for him to go inside. 1. Close the gate as you go in and out, like a public pool 2. Lifejacket 3. Swimming lessons 4. Don't be an idiot parent
