its so confusing as to why they dont just make the game they advertise, i mean people would play it all day long and watch ads or whatever, instead they give you a completely different game, expecting you to play it. its so dumb. they seem to put in a ton of effort in to the game ads and nothing in to making the game.

I've been playing for three years. If you like to collect things and evolve your characters it can be quite rewarding as long as you don't spend money on it. However if your intention is to become a big winner in the game you can forget this game as it is a scam only intended to relieve you of your hard earned cash. I say this because the "big winners", also referred to as whales, usually spend USD 300 and/or more a month to stay in their top positions.

Super repetitive game which requires more and more money to play. There is no skill involved, just buy stuff to buff up your characters and then wade through boring fight sequences which are automated. You even have to pay to make the character walk faster. Walking faster isn't an in-game upgrade that gives your character a better chance to complete tasks, it's literally just the character walking faster so you're not staring at the screen watching them plod past the same wallpaper background for as long.

Scam. First off, the ads are not the game. Those mini games are a few at the beginning then gone forever. Game is pay to play, they make it virtually impossible otherwise. And the free emeralds is a total scam. Have done them 4 times. First 3 I had to fight to get the reward each time having to email over and over. The 4th was a 4x reward bonus. Downloaded the game, did all missions and once again nothing. Contacted them. They wanted proof. Sent it. They wanted more proof. I sent it. 3rd time more proof(Hero Wars shows I did the missions). Finally they sent a message saying "we cannot confirm you completed the tasks). It was for 124,000 emeralds which even on a major sale say is well over $100 US. I am working with my credit card company to dispute all charges as neither the company who manages the free emeralds, or Hero Wars will reply.

Thank you for your review & given the fact you are a new player & only played for 48 hours, by your statement it sounds as though you spent most of that time grinding, (impressive but unnecessary) you have gained a fair amount of knowledge but you are mistaken about a few aspects which I would like to correct. Firstly, In my opinion, 48 hours is not long enough to accurately review Hero Wars, you may get a basic idea of the core gameplay but not all the game offers, or you may unlock access to content without understanding it well. The game is a marathon, not a sprint. It is fair though if you can tell in that timeframe you do not enjoy the animations, art style or the fact there are very few puzzles, that is understandable & not everyone enjoys resource management games or combat focused ones. Regarding the adverts, I believe the sections showing different levels of enemies & the acquisition of higher levels & gear to defeat them is meant to demonstrate the need to level up your teams appropriately within the game to defeat the different types of content you encounter but that even when you are a high level, choosing the wrong opponent can lead to defeat. This is correct in theory but the way they chose to convey the message has lead to confusion & is false advertising if taken at face value, I agree & I dislike most of the adds used, especially those made in poor taste. In this respect, I am pleased the game is nothing like those adds. I agree the game can be grindy at the start, but most games of this type are. If you have unlocked raiding for missions though, you can farm completed missions multiple times at the click of a button & if you have unlocked multiple raiding then you can farm a mission 50+ times in seconds, which significantly reduces the grind. The higher level you get, the more farming is needed but this is at a manageable level in my opinion since you can only raid a certain number of times a day anyway, even if you spend emeralds to get more runs. There are micro transactions this is true but would you expect otherwise in a free to play game these days? All are optional, none are required for progression, you can speed up your progress if you want but you can still get there for free in the end. From my experience, the discount percentages are accurate & do not falsely represent prices. If there is an 80% discount, the price has been reduced by that much, this is why I advise waiting for sales if you are going to spend money. The heroes can only be upgraded as high as your team level will allow, this is true but this is also very helpful for keeping pvp fair as it limits progression for P2W players as well, they cannot instantly upgrade their heroes to 130 on day 1, they can only level up at the same speed as free to play players, this is good in my opinion. I would not worry though, your team level goes up quite quickly if you complete your daily quests which can all be completed in a few minutes each day. If you are unwise in how you level up your heroes, you can have a large enough gap between their level & your team level that the tower becomes too hard to complete. You can correct this by avoiding the daily exp quest rewards until your heroes catch up. You are incorrect regarding how the combat works, most attacks are automated yes but you have full control on when to execute your ultimate which becomes available when that yellow bar (energy) fills up. Timing your ultimates correctly & chaining them together are a big part of combat later & can be the difference between victory & defeat against stronger opponents & higher level PvE content. This also ties into how artifacts work & which you should focus on first. The weapon artifacts apply a team buff during each activation of that hero’s ultimate. As an example, you can use a hero that provides an armour buff to the team just as you see the enemy use a physical attack ultimate to reduce the damage received or you can chain 2 magic penetration ultimates & magic attack ultimates when the enemy has lost their magic defense buff to maximise damage output This is a basic example & does not go into hero passive abilities, counters or team synergies but you get the idea I hope. Emeralds are best saved for Outland chests, Titans, pets & events but you can actually play the game with very few emeralds & you can also get emeralds for free, though in small quantities. Some sources for free emeralds include events, monthly login rewards, obtaining a certain rank in the arena, defeating outland bosses & promoting heroes. You can also get free emeralds by completing tasks in other valid games but I have not used that method myself. For the tower, you can save a lot of skulls by only purchasing offensive upgrades once your heroes have a high enough defense, I consistently have 300+ skulls to exchange for gold & every bit of gold you can get is helpful. VIP has no effect on the tower at all, I do not know what made you think otherwise. If you complete it at team level 130 though, then you can autocomplete the tower from that point forward. This does not require any money or VIP rank & you never get more than 3 chests to open per floor. You did not read the mission description for the expedition did you? Neither farming nor murdering were involved, it was a stealth mission to prevent an invasion, the descriptions do not really matter though unless you are into the lore. You are incorrect regarding the hero selection, later you need to carefully select your heroes for expeditions as you need their total level to add up to or be greater than the expedition requirement. You cannot buy shards or any other resources in the outland shop, you can spend outland coins though for items & hero soul stones to unlock heroes & spend emeralds to refresh the store if you are impatient. You can also buy hero skin stone chests to purchase or level up hero skins. You are correct regarding the dungeon but you left out that all members receive the Titan summoning spheres which in turn helps to strengthen all members by giving them access to more titans or increasing their levels. It is recommended you do not go past 3 checkpoints in 1 day though as the difficulty increases after each checkpoint & you start the next day from your last checkpoint reached the previous day. The rewards you claim not be the greatest for dungeon activity are in fact very useful & can be the deciding factor between victory or defeat during guild wars, since having titans at a decent level is a very important factor there. There are ways to heal your titans, if you have the water totem, Iyari, Hyperion, Tenebris or Mort you can use abilities to regenerate health though each work differently. I agree the adds are misleading but I believe the game based on its own merits deserves a higher rating than 4 out of 10. Your are entitled to your opinion but I would rate it at 7 personally due to the variety of heroes, the generosity of the devs with frequent gifts & discounts, the assistance towards F2P players, the depth of gameplay mechanics for a game of this type, the encouragement of teamwork within guilds, the frequent support & addition of new heroes, pets & other features. If they added all the puzzles then I would rate it at 9. This is my personal opinion though. Thank you for taking the time to read through my lengthy response.

Hey there. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch my video and share your thoughts. I really appreciate it. 48 Hours is probably not enough to give a full review of the game, given that I have not unlocked all of the mechanics. But yes, 48 hours is enough to get a feel for the game and whether or not it would click with you. I think a lot of people, those I have spoken to and myself included at least, found Hero Wars through the ads. And because of that, we craved the puzzles element. Are you speaking about the VIP raiding? If not, I might have been too low level or missed it. If you are, it would take away from the F2P aspect of the game and introduce a more P2W aspect. That is good and at the same time scary news that the discount percentages are accurate. I am glad it is not a fake discount like I have seen at many, many storefronts. But at the same time, the real price of some of those microtransactions becomes really scary as to how much money you can spend. Capping the heroes at the team level seems like it might help reduce P2W, but probably not remove it entirely. I do get the idea; it still feels like some lack of control if you had to compare it to other grinding games like Monster Hunter. Although maybe this game is closer to an idle clicker. It feels really similar to Idle Champions. I don't think I was reading much by the time I got to the expeditions. I stopped enjoying the game really early on. And my primary goal had become completing all the puzzles so I could stop playing it. 7 out of 10 is very generous. I am glad you enjoyed the game so much. It just didn't click with me. Especially since I don't like grindy games, but of the few I have played, this wouldn't make the top since I had no connection to any of the heroes. The few other games similar to this that I have played had superheroes, Star Wars characters, or DnD characters I really connected with which helped keep me in the game. If they did include more puzzles, especially some from the ads, then I would rate this game higher. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts. People watching this video can now get a better look at the game from someone who enjoyed it. They can also see what mistakes and assumptions I have made. I hope that will give them a better framework when deciding to play this game.

Hi, my apologies for not replying sooner. You are welcome & thank you for reading through my very long response to your video, it too is appreciated. Yes, I also first started playing due to the puzzle mechanics demonstrated in a few early adds but I enjoyed the game enough to continue even when I noticed those mechanics were rare. It is worth noting though that the game does include other forms of puzzles & minigames not shown in the adds, these are incorporated into certain events. Part of the enjoyment for me comes from the fact that there are frequent events & the guild I am with keeps things interesting as well. Regarding the Raiding, yes you can get the ability to raid missions by getting to VIP rank 1, this is very inexpensive to do, requiring less than $2. You can also unlock the ability to instantly raid a mission as many times as your energy will allow at VIP 5 which costs roughly $50 but this does not need to be spent at once. Any purchases made will incrementally increase your VIP rank anyway so you can get to VIP 5 after some time even just by renewing Valkyrie’s favour which costs just under $3 a week if you have it. In my case I only spend during 4x or 5x sale discounts which gives you a lot of emeralds for very little money, roughly $15 a month is what I spend but I don’t buy special offers, season tickets or bundles. If I recall correctly, it took roughly 4 months for me to get VIP 9. VIP rank beyond 5 does not mean much overall, just gives a few extra resources. You can unlock the ability to raid multiple times for free though if you request the golden ticket during a special December event so free to play players can still get the ability if they start then or are patient until then. Some bundles are expensive, yes but as I said, they are optional & in my opinion do not need to be purchased unless you are impatient or very competitive. Eventually F2P & low cost players reach the same level as P2W players. P2W players just get there faster. I’m not sure if bundle prices are server specific but on my server the cheapest ones are $5.37 & the most expensive are $43. I may have missed a few though since I don’t normally pay much attention to them. The highest single emerald purchase that can be made is $90 & the lowest is under $2. There are other options for emeralds & bundles between theses prices as well. Capping the heroes does help a lot but you are correct, it does not eliminate P2W. The thing is though you don’t need to be top in PvP to enjoy the game & make decent progress in other areas. You can still be ranked in the top 50 to 100 in PVP content as a F2P player if you invest resources wisely & use good team synergy. Even if you rank in the top 150 you still get decent daily rewards. Yes, definitely the combat in this game does not compare to games such as Monster Hunter which is a fully 3D RPG, the version I play started as a mobile game but has split in a few areas from the mobile version. It does have idle clicker elements but has farm more depth than traditional ones. It is primarily a resource management game. Yes I also stopped reading the expedition text after a bit, some are interesting but they are mostly generic & repeat. Thanks, I like strategy & resource management games, I have also seen far worse, I understand, games, like a lot of things are subjective, not everyone enjoys the same type of content. As I said, there are more puzzles during events but they are different to those shown in the adds. There are also competitions on discord that reward all players on all servers if enough correct answers are given during quizzes or special puzzles are solved, regardless of whether you have taken part or not. You are very welcome & thank you again for taking the time to read my responses. Yes agreed, it helps to have multiple perspectives when making such decisions. Did you read the other response I posted before btw? It was separate to my original reply.@@cybercell

Addendum: I was mistaken, there was a bundle offer during a recent event with various prices ranging from $18 to $215 but none of the contents were exclusive or difficult for F2P players to get, the bundles just contained larger quantities of resources & in my opinion are not worth the price. As I said, there are expensive purchase options but non are mandatory. I also have since noticed that there are some discounts for 80% that remain constant, I have not seen these bundles being offered at full price recently so your earlier analysis of said discounts appears to have been correct. I do not think this is a problem though necessarily, they never increase or further lower the price in these cases, it just gives more perceived value to the purchase but it can lead to impulse buying. In my opinion though, people with impulse buying tendencies should avoid games of this type. My apologies for the mistakes, I don’t pay too much attention to bundle offers normally. Hope you are having a good Easter.@@cybercell

These days the game gives the image that someone is in desperate need of cash, for whatever purpose. In the three years I have been playing I suspect there have never before been as many and as frequent offers to spend money on the game. Now they are even asking us for money to preorder a hero. In your rather lengthy reply you mention "very useful things". If you compare the quantity of things you get to the time you need to spend to get them these "useful things" come at a quite hefty price. Also if you don't spend money in the game it takes about 5 - 8 months to get a team to level 130 with a playing time of about two hours a day. If you are in a gold league team you can easily spend more than three hours a day which I would suggest is close to start impeeding on your real life. Another thing to consider is the fact that games like Hero wars are using microtransactions, subscriptions, gems, gold and other methods to make the players oblivious to the amounts of money they are actually spending on the game. Then we come to the graphics. In games like Hero wars you are confronted with saturated colors to increase your addiction. Furthermore at strategic points in the game players are confronted with scantly clad pretty girls to keep your interest awake. And I think we can all agree to the fact that the gameplay itself is pretty repetitive and boring unless you dive into the mechanics of manual gameplay rather than automatic gameplay. This means you need to actually spend a lot of time learning the minute details that need to be considered when creating a working strong team with a lot of synergy. And we should not forget that once the players have found a solution to how to beat a specific set of heroes a new hero comes along or a new pet or a new something else that upsets the existing "best way to play" and the players need to start over, preferably spending great sums of money to cope with the new "world order" that has been implemented. So at best this game is a moneymaking machine that uses all the latest tricks of the gaming industry to keep players at their screens and preferably keep spending their money on the game.

I do agree with you. The ads are very misleading and I feel as if more people would download the game if the advertising was the real gameplay. Years ago, the ads were a lot more appropriate and actually looked kind of fun, now it's a different story. I do play the game, and yes some bits are stupid and they often try to get you to spend money, (but every game has its flaws.) However, some bits are fun and it does require you to think, (sometimes.) Definitely not something I would play 24/7, but I've made friends there and it's also not the worst as long as you don't do anything stupid, (wasting money, blah, blah, blah,) but nothing can justify those ads, which are just: 🤮🤮🤮
