i mean you could probably just assume at this point that some of the korean players are as good of friends as they are competitors, considering how long they've been in the scene, so i'd take that choke as a "this is for the double gold base on match 1, you cheeky bastard"

It's about the G5L trophy, so far noone's got it and the only 2 contenders are Maru and Rogue After a very long time Rogue screwed up and got eliminated early so this must've felt like THE SEASON where Maru finally takes it but couldn't And yeah, some of the bits of long-term comradery also

It looks like a friendly banter. They may be a competitors, but still they've been so long in the top bracket that they clearly know each other well and could be friends at the same time. I think in e-sport even more than in regular sports you know the people from your league. You meet at all competitions, sometimes you've been training together now or in the past etc

The game is crazy and wild, it needs cray and wild players, it's the Korean bread and butter and we love and thank them of that

Maru was literally playing one of those survival levels in SC2 with waves of enemies just coming into his base. Except he had to face it 5 times straight. That's how good HerO was in this GSL.

I've never seen anyone put that kind of pressure on Maru. Usually it's Maru doing 3 drops at once and macroing like crazy.

Great series by HerO omg he is insane and i dont know if its on purpose but i like the description "herO and herO playing the starcraft 2 GSL" its pretty accurate no matter if its accedently xDDD

As Artosis would say. Hero played so bad(non meta/predictable), that he played good.

herO is absolutely insane with his Stalker blink positioning. I don't think I see other pros do what he does. Picking off a marauder here and there seriously affects the balance by quite a lot

That, plus his oracle micro is top notch too. Don't think I've seen anyone get as much out of them as consistently as he does.

herO has been my favorite player ever since his back to back IEM wins, so this was always going to be one of the best finals for me. I'm glad the games were everything we could have hoped for and herO's active style is so fun to watch.

I love to see hero win but I hate to see Maru Lose. These games are fantastic

@@ManDuderGuy I don't get what people have against Zerg. I understand the Terran hate with all the siege units and the no-commitment scouting, and protoss with the stalling for shields, but I've never understood Zerg hate (unless it is zvz which gets dull)

Hero only busted out the fleet Beacon and skytoss for the last game. Only a Hero does that.

I love this style of Protoss because it's basically how I played back in WoL. Solid chunk of Blink Stalker, into 5 Immortals, fill up on Zealot Archeon and go hammering but always pull back your Stalkers and Immortals, refill on Zealot Archeon and go hammering.

But it pisses me off that terran will get better value engagements. It's protoss, not zerg. Constantly throwing away quality protoss units just because you are up in resources is profoundly wrong.

These two have such insane micro in big battles

Zerg forgets how to counter gateway units. Consequence: Protoss wins a tournament. Amazing stuff. Maru opens 3 rax to hit an early timing. herO responds by doing game ending damage with 1 gateway and stargate's worth of production and building a gold base right outside Maru's base. Great match up.

What a great first game, you get the impression Maru is working his ass off doing some mad micro keeping the protoss at bay, but towards the end is just like, "WHERE THE FUCK DO THESE ZEALOTS KEEP COMING FROM OMFG"

love the way her0 pushes his econ advantage by spamming tier 1 units and constantly attacking so maru has no time to redevelop his economy. so many players let up after winning or losing a battle and their opponents just rebuild so the advantage evaporates. if you have a big econ advantage losses don't matter as long as your opponent suffers some as well. that's how US Grant beat the confederates in the civil war.

And finally a Protoss plays like it should be played. I never see any feedbacks on the pro level for example. His storms were so good as if he played an open map. I will be totally satisfied if some one makes assimilators to check if the outer bases has taken. They send zealots x10 times and keep losing them on the way. Just make an assimilator, cheaper.

@@kozatas sending out zealots for bases allows you to try and cancel the base rather than just knowing its there. The runbys are more risky but can have a huge payout

He turtles way too much. The other two races can't turtle nearly as well. When they are behind they are dead.

It wasn't even sneaky, that opening was so strong that Maru would have had to know and game plan to take down the gold base to not lose outright.

EMP, Medivac, stepback, repair on mech units I mean toss can't even heal bio nor mechanical? but Terran is allowed to take out shields instantly? Okay... great purpose of shields gone. Storms are good but have low AOE. and the HT are so fing slow that any misplay just kills them. I've been saying for years that toss are dealt the underhand. Then her0 comes in and plays better than the weaknesses of the race and creams it xD

Seeing all those Zealots being made at Game 5 made me think Maru should've built some Blue Flame Heckbats to counter them. He couldn't, of course. Didn't have time to do so, and the Disruptors would've killed many of them, but he could've use some.
