That is so sad to hear, trying to save another diver knowing the risks involved.

Definitely check and shake out you gear on a dive boat. On my honeymoon in Bora Bora the dive guide went to put his boot on and the huge centipede bit his thumb. He jerked tossing it out in the ocean. It swam / ran on the surface back to the boat. He then let it climb on rod and macheted it in half... I have video of that. We still dived. I could see him grasp his thumb and let out some noises of pain a few times. Was a little nervous he may have been poisoned some how..

On long hose primary donate you should get on your secondary whenever you get a chance *after* holding your primary out towards the out of gas diver. Whether they have taken the reg from you yet or not is irrelevant. There's no need to delay and there should be no great need to rush either... But if you can switch before they're in grabbing distance of you that would be optimal so that you have gas and a free hand to control the interaction. By all means go hunt down a tech diving instructor and have them go through the long hose with you. There's no certification for long hose so it needn't be a full course. But if you have the cash and time look into doing the introductory tech courses because they're great value for money.

Yeah, I can't think of many strong reasons to pause until the situation has calmed down before switching yourself. Maybe not to rush it or divert your attention?! I wasn't taught to pause and with enough muscle memory you can find your alternate without looking away from the other diver.

Why does Reel Diving not want to operate in Finland? In this news, it was mentioned that the company will start operations in Scandinavia (Denmark, Sweden and Norway) and the Baltics (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania). Finland was not mentioned. My Perdix 2 went to Canada a few weeks ago for warranty repair because I had bought it in Finland. The store that sold the product estimates that I will get the computer back in about two months after I delivered it to them. Apparently, the warranty of Shearwater's products in Finland will not change for the better in the future. Maybe I should buy a Suunto...

They mention Finland on the Reel Diving website, it may just be an innocent omission. "_serving clients in UK, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Poland, Ireland and Sweden._"

SOCKS ARE GAME CHANGER FOR BOOTIES omg I tried it first time ever on my sea of Cortez trip last week even tho I was scootering every single dive I found my ankles blistering from back finning while shooting photos haha but my dive guide Diego said “socks” next dive omg never not wearing them I like how comfy it is

It's funny how often I would mention socks to divers and they had never considered wearing socks. I think it's something to do with wet socks, nobody likes a wet sock but, they can be great for scuba diving.

Maybe I missed it but it's not clear to me what happened to the two divers who died. Is anything know besides the standard "investigation pending"

We don't know yet. At least I haven't seen anything official yet. It appears one diver had _some kind of trouble_ and in an attempt to get them to the surface as quickly as possible the other diver skipped deco stops to get them back to the surface.
