Herniated Disc Symptoms

Sick and tired of lower back pain or sciatica? In this video I share with you the 7 tell tale signs of a herniated or bulging disc. But for a fully comprehensive look at all possible sources of your back or sciatica pain, grab your free copy of my 👉 "Better Than An MRI DIY Diagnostic Guide" - www.drcharliejohnsonpt.com/di...
Here are the 7 Tell Tale Signs:
1. Back pain that comes and goes. Does your lower back "got out" on you every once in-a-while...then just seems to go away on its own only to return next year?
2. Central lower back pain that feels achy or stiff.
3. Sciatica down the back of the leg or wrapping around the front of the leg from the lower back. Did you know that the number one cause of sciatica is a herniated disc?
4. Pain worsens with sitting. When we sit we put pressure on the front of our disc- which causes the stuff inside the disc to move backwards and puts pressure on the disc and nerves...causing pain, numbness, or tingling.
5. Pain worsens with going from sitting to standing.
6. Pain worsens with coughing or sneezing
7. Feels better standing
There you have it- 7 tell tales signs of a herniated or bulging disc.

I have 5 herniated discs . Three of them on my neck and 2 others on my lower back . Sometimes the pain is unbearable and irritating 😠... But the worse part is when people don’t understand me or say that I’m exaggerating . It’s really upsetting .

I heard that the pain is similar to birth pains. As a woman that had children, I can attest that, yes, it's very similar but at least with birth pains, they go away as soon as the baby pops out.

I had a herniated disc in 2013, 2014, and 2015. Each time I did chiropractic adjustments & decompression, PT, meds, steroid injections, ect. In 2017 I had yet another herniation but nothing worked. I even added in accupunture but I got progressively worse. 6 months later and I can barely stand more than 30 seconds and I have constant excruciating pain. MRI showed a large herniation this time and in 3 days I'm finally having microdiscectomy surgery. I'm 34 yrs old, and just can't continue to live like this. I'm severely depressed. Hoping this surgery works.

@@cshell48991 Wow, nice to hear surgery worked for you. I'm the opposite of many here. For me, it hurts to stand up straight, it hurts to lie down and relax on my stomach or back. I can lie on my back without pain if I bend (a lot) either one of my legs. The only way to avoid pain on my stomach is to put three pillows under my waist area. It's all related to how I have to lean forward slightly when standing to avoid pain, and then that makes my lower back tired by the end of a long work shift.

No mention of femoral nerve pain which affects groin/hip and front of thigh. Ive just recovered from a herniated disc which impinged my femoral nerve. Pain was unbearable for about a month but as soon as I was able to walk although still with pain I just kept walking as often as I could to the point where I could jog on grass. Im now running 4 times a week about 20 miles. I believe the walk/running helps remove the debris from the herniation that puts pressure on the nerve

My lower back pain started a couple or so months ago and never had it before I think. It hurts more the longer I sit and especially when I try to get up from a chair. When I lay down for a while the pain goes away mostly until I move around to my sides or try to get up. I tried taking a couple hot baths and bought a lower back stretcher but doesn't seem to help. I recently ordered heat pads so hopefully that helps?

Im thinking i have a herniated disc possibly l2 or 3. I re-injured myself today and my pain is the worst its ever been. Hilariously i hurt myself while relaxing laying in bed with my feet up i could feel my back stretching in a weird way and didnt correct it, that was 3 days ago, i woke up ok this morning and went to work where i bend, lift, kneel and stoop a bunch. By lunch i couldnt sit, my leg started spasming right above my knee on my right side (it did this the rest of the painful evening). On my fortunately very short drive home i was trying to lay down flat bc sitting is so painful. The pain is on my outter hip wraps over my front thigh. My back hurts from laying down so much but it hurts to stand too. Thank you for having videos explain what is causing these syptoms.

Hello Doctor, My lower back pain to my right hip started June 2016. It moved to my right thigh in July, August and September. In October I had an MRI which revealed I had an L4/ L5 disc protrusion to the right along with mild central spinal stenosis. November 2016 the pain moved below the knee to the foot. Calf pain is very painful. A little numbness in my foot after standing and then goes away. The pain has been persistent through December January February 2017. It was starting to feel better early February and then the past week the pain returned. I did physical therapy for a month and a half started in November. It didn't help. With spinal stenosis the McKenzie exercises was making my pain worse. I also tried the decompression table. It didn't help either. I'm trying not to lift anything heavy and also trying not to bend so much. I feel relief when I am in a yoga child's pose position. I'm trying not to get surgery. I only take mild over-the-counter painkillers as needed. My questions for you Doctor are the following: How long will it take to heal? What should I avoid doing? What should I do to speed up the healing process? What are my restrictions? Will I benefit from walking more? Will the symptoms start to vanish from the foot going up? I thank you so much for your responses!

I had to do a workplace form incident report. I went to the hospital and all they did was xrays on my back and said looked good. Sent me home with naproxen. Since then the pain level is lower but i struggle getting out of bed and up from sitting. I know alot had changed because i cant jus jump up no more. My friends and family told me sciatica. I didnt belive it could be that painful. Im scared to sneeze because my lower back hurts.

I have no pain in the back of my legs but it's all in the front - I'm a weightlifter and squatting is nearly impossible as both hips feel excruciating pain. It also hurts when sitting, walking etc .. I've seen a physiotherapist who said it's a disc problem and told me to do no flexion exercises but to do some sloppy push ups and similar exercises, these make my low back "ache" when it was only my front legs before.. does any of this sound familiar? Should I get a second opinion? I'm only 24

Hi I'm 17 and having been lifting weights a little over a year and hurt my back twice once deadlifting with bad form and about 6 months later squatting with bad form. My back hurts alot when I'm sitting and it hurts while I workout but not painful just discomforting and unstable. should I keep working out? Would you recommend any exercises that will help strengthen my lower back for long durations like sitting?

I have pretty much all the symptoms. The worse is when I fall asleep a severe sharp pain shoots in my lower back from one hip to the other. It's the worse pain to the point u don't want to move and trying to stand is horrific. Every time that happens my lower back throbs and I can barely walk. I can't sleep in my bed , i sleep in my recliner. This has been going on for 2 weeks and I have no idea what triggered it.

First thank you for this posting this great video. I have previously been diagnosed with a herniated disc between L4L5. I have all 7 symptoms, very often, every day. It has been almost 10 years. Now I am buying different mattresses, trying all the NSAID's. I have been told to go to a chiropracter by my wife many times. Could this be a solution? Again thanks for the post, I am happy to see some real professionals giving real life and useful information.

DO NOT DO Chiropractor until the pain is gone, it can cause more issues. A chiropractor is comprised of false teachings made up by a crazy person. Look up the history, it will blow you away.

I have lordosis and I’m almost positive I have a herniated disc. They told me I need to have an X-ray with me learning forward. I was paralyzed for a year with guillain barre, and sepsis I also have dystonia. It hurts so bad to stand but I refuse to not walk. I was a nurse and emt so I’m stubborn. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’ve been using a roller but I do go see an orthopedic surgeon on the 14th.

My back popped doing clean and jerks, it hurt a little but a week later its still very sore in between my thoratic section and my lumbar. There's not really any pain only soreness and occasionally burning. My back gets tight when i stand for too long at work. Only releif i get is when str3tching my back out via hanging from a bar or pushing up against a chair that relaxes my back muscles. I can do everything normal. Its just that nagging feeling im getting. Any thoughts?

I feel all of it except #4 and #7 I feel the opposite. When Im standing for morethan 5min I feel uneasy because the pain is recurring and when I sit down I feel slighly releived cause the pain is decreasing, however, if Im in one position for a period of time. Say .. 5min.. and I want to change position (specially when lying down), it's hard for me to do so cause I need to look for a position where there are no pain before I can move and switch to my next position. Is it also a sign of slipped disc?

  • @AKhan0372
    @AKhan0372 Жыл бұрын

What do I have? Disc or muscle? I have pain right on my spine area and it started while tying shoes (though bending over has always been uncomfortable for a while). There is no tingling, no numbness. Just very localized on one location on the spine about 5 inches above tailbone. Very mild while laying down. Not that bad when sitting but worse for sure. I think standings is worse if not the same as sitting..Sharp pain when moving (getting up, sitting down) -- worse when bending and worst when bending to pickup weight even as less as 5 pounds. it got a bit better 5 days latter but still there.

I’m not sure if I have a sprain or herniated disc. Someone tackled me in lower back 4 weeks ago and it still hurts, but has gotten better. I don’t have any tingling sensation or number in lower legs. I’m hoping it’s just a sprain and goes away in a few weeks.
