HERNANDO'S HIDEAWAY by Archie Bleyer

Музыка

This is probably the best playing record in my collection. Couldn't believe how little noise accompanied this recording.
Maria Alba plays the castinets. Enjoy!

This song brings back wonderful memories for me. My mom was a concert pianist and played this song for me when I was a youngster. Always loved the tempo of this song. Almost 79 years later, I still get chills thinking about mom and this song. Mom is long gone but great memories last forever.

What a great record. When I was eleven years old, in (very conservative) Catholic school, we had to get up individually and sing a song and be graded on it. A funny kid named Georgie, who always knew how to push a button two, got up and started in on "Hernando's Hideway". With a young boy smirk upon his face, he sang "..A glass of wine, a fast embrace.." Sister was not pleased. In fact she was outraged! (Hey, it was 1954..)

Haha that's fantastic! This wouldn't happen to have been in an Irish Catholic school, at all? When I read about the sister's anger, in my head, she was shouting in an Irish accent.

hi Jim. I really liked the melody, and even more - you answer ) But the thing is that I got the point, but still missed some kind of idioms , I believe? can you please explain me those ? it's kinda interesting for me, since English is not my first language. thanks a lot to you and anyone else assisting.

Wonderful music Remembered this from my childhood! My daughter is profoundly disabled and went to a special school where they had a special disc of assorted music for Parachute games. THIS was one of them She loved it so much they made a copy and gave it to us. We often play it in the car and this never fails to make her smile and laugh! Thank you!

My father and mother along with my older brother Tommy and I in 1955 drove from San Francisco to Boston and back and wherever we stopped at a roadside diner on our trip I would be the first to put a dime into the jukebox to play the song twice. Such great memories music can evoke in all of us.

Thanks for the uploaded you made a very old man (my grandad) very happy today. He said he used to sing this with a girl called Taffy Jenkins out and about along time ago. And he said how he also used to have lots of record's when he was younger. He met my nan, and when him and my nan had their first flat they were stored at my nans adoptive parents. Then when grandad and Nan got their own house and nans foster parents passed away they were lost. He always talks about this song in particular and he hadn't heard it in ages so this made him happy when I found it and played it . It was nice to see him so happy and sing along.
