  • @KatieRoseine
    @KatieRoseine Жыл бұрын

    The Sniffer, being an ancient mob, could be linked to archaology. I liked the idea of being able to brush away dirt layers, and would like to see that idea spread to any other dirt block, so we can create landscapes with differing dirt layers, like snow. The Sniffer could also dig up pottery and maybe treasures occasionally.

    My favorite is the Sniffer. Besides just being super cute, I also love the game mechanic or idea that you can "revive" an extinct mob, this is something we don't have yet and it's quite unique. I can already imagine myself looking for one of the potentially somewhat rare eggs to hatch it and watch it sniff around. I also like the idea of introducing new plants and this mob looking for them, also potentially extinct ones. So even when you do get the sniffer, the quest isn't over yet as it still has to find you some rare seeds that can't be obtained otherwise. I just think it's a really cool idea without being gamebreaking or giving you some random loot that you could obtain in many other ways too. The rascal is an interesting idea - a mob that's stalking you in caves? Creepy and cool! However I think it's just a bit boring if it gives you some lightly enchanted tools. Still a nice addition, no doubt about it, but I just think that it's an early game feature and it gets somewhat useless once you go diamond or even netherite. If they change it up a bit and maybe even make it hostile or just a bit more shadowy/dark/creepy, I think it might turn out really cool. The golem just isn't really catching me. Sure, it's cool because it's stationary but it can also move but I just don't really see the benefits and I'm not a huge golem fan anyway as we already have two of those, both of which are nice but don't really.. catch me. I don't know why. Sniffer it is for me, I love it!

  • @Kanyon85

    Mojang neglecting to fix bees is honestly frustrating. They just need to exit the hive or nest, go to a stationary flower, and return home. But we have to encase them in glass in order to work, or inevitably lose them all because they refuse to fix the pathfinding. Then they made the Allay with more complicated movement mechanics.

    16:00 I think both "lots of leaves" and "thinned out" look really good by themselves. Since the vibe is a natural one, like an overgrown temple, I think it would be cool to vary it, kind of like you already have it on your test server. One side or corner of the Hall of Goat is more overgrown than the other, and that could carry through into the other "cells" of the roof nearby before tapering off more. You could explain it by either putting it on the side where it gets more sun, and thus the plants grow more tenaciously, or it could be on the opposite side where the placement of solar panels is less needed, and therefore the plants are allowed to go a little crazier. Having clear areas where the foliage is more lush than others would really give off that organic vibe to me.

    I like the idea of tuff being useful after having a ton of it from mining iron veins. Since it sounds like they will pick up any item, I wonder if having a bunch with you could help with recovering dropped items when you die. On the other hand, it also sounds like just another Allay with a twist. One concern I have after working with Allays, though, is how much lag each new mob might introduce since I'm pretty sure Allays cause even more lag than villagers from my experience.

    The way to fix the "now that I've seen the movies I can only imagine Gandalf (or any other character this applies to) that one specific way" problem is to get far too deep into obscure reaches of the fandom and discover all the weird or old adaptations and all the pre-movies era illustrations. Like, once that you have the renditions of the character from a handful of different artists' illustrations, the various old animated movies, a couple of plays you've been able to go see, the musical you've seen clips of, the weird old Finnish tv miniseries from the 90s that no one has the rights to distribute or show on tv anymore but that someone's uploaded to youtube anyway, and a few other such things, all in your head, after that you're once again able to just create your own version in your head, or at the very least, you'll have a wider selection of options to choose from in imagining the character :D In my honest opinion though, Gandalf in particular is admittedly a character it's kind of hard to do a very unique design of that still keeps the core and feeling of the character. Like, you can vary the shades of grey in the clothes a bit, you can vary the height and build a bit, the length of hair and beard, but at the end of the day Gandalf tends to be a character who ends up looking very similar in most illustrations and most adaptations across the decades (I mean, I'm trying to make my own character designs for LOTR characters, and for Gandalf the main gimmick in my design, practically the only thing that'll set him apart from a dozen other designs you might see, is that his face will never be seen in my drawings, and neither will the faces of other maiar, but rather will always be in shadow or behind something or otherwise obscured. Which, admittedly, is at least halfway just laziness with not feeling like coming up with a face that feels right for the character)

    I love the Rascal for what it is, not what it does. I love that it's a sneaky, passive, underground mob. I also recognize it is probably the weakest choice.

    in regard to the iron farm covers, i would recommend 3 of the structural versions and have the last one be the overgrown version. The asymmetry should help enhance the feel of the build being alive. edit: also, perhaps add some composters in various stages of being filled to make it seem like the gardens are actively being cut back to prevent them from being overgrown

    My favorite of the three mobs is definitely the Tuff Golem. Not only would it give us an awesome way to display our treasures, its ability to move around also has some really cool build uses. For example, I can image building a restaurant and having a bunch of the golems walking around carrying food and drinks. Plus it would be useful as just a statue which would be great for building. And the cherry on top is being able to recolor their scarfs which is just fun and cute. As for the sniffer, its plant is confirmed to be purely decoration so its not going to have any cool uses and unlike the golem, that's basically the only use for it. The rascal has a bit more potential depending on what they drop but the example they gave of the enchanted iron pick makes me think this mob probably won't be super useful later in the game. Overall, VOTE TUFF GOLEM!

    I say keep the arena, could be your mini game build. Host battles in it later. Bonus points for explode proofing it or parts and dropping in charged creepers during events. Maybe even a hidden warden for darkness and gladiator matches. Waiting for the day the corrupt king goes down to your king. All love to you and Ren and all hermits

    The Sniffer is the easy vote for this one- not only is it cute, but it adds new plants, reasons to go to underwater ruins, and is a large overworld passive mob. Plus they're shaped like Overworld fossils, so maybe they're the same! The rascal seems too annoying and not worth the effort, and the Tuff Golem does nothing that you couldn't already do with Item Frames or Allays.

    14:13 - The arena looks nice but once you're inside it, it looks a little flat. Maybe you could build some other structures (little towers or something) nearby outside the arena to give it a bit more scenery, more visual context for which way you're facing, etc.?

    Sniffer: New interesting looking passive mob and some type of decorative plant. Includes some sort of seed mechanic. May include some relation to fossils and/or archeology. Rascal: Gives a mini-game that will probably be worth do exactly one time and rewards the player with gear that is likely to be obsolete before it is gifted. May come along with an update to mineshafts. Tuff Golem: New variation on an item frame that can move around. We don't know the specifics, but it sounds like it will wake up and go to sleep randomly. May come along with some mechanic for renewable tuff. Personally I'm voting for the sniffer.
