Hermitcraft 10: Episode 14 - WORLD BUILDING
Ойындар
In this episode of Hermitcraft Season 10, Mumbo works on Willys Woodyard, the latest building in this Hermitcraft Seasons Mumbo mega base. This giant Minecraft woodyard build will be the Minecraft storage system for the output from all of my industrial Minecraft wood farms. We also catch up with Zedaph, and Cubfan.

As opposed to Mumbo the... Medstoner?
Bdubs paints with oils. Scar paints with acrylics. Mumbo paints with watercolors. That’s the best summary to me in how they build. Bdubs -> Beautiful, highly sophisticated, depth, realistic feeling art even if the art itself is unrealistic. Professional artist. Every block is carefully considered and imagined, fully realized. Oil painting takes lots of development time, layers, and is highly detailed and blends the most smoothly. Scar -> Beautiful but aimed for fun and the artwork feels more causal than a professional artist. Not professional doesn’t mean not good, just a different overall attitude and purpose. Acrylic is still very detailed, but it dries much faster and blends not as easy, lending itself to a more typical brushstroke or playful style. Mumbo -> Capturing ideas and moods in broad brushstrokes and forms. Letting textures speak for themselves. Creating visions and impressions rather than extreme details and too much focus on realism. Watercolor is the most expressive and free flowing in its medium, letting the water influence your work, expressing its amazing texture, and making most of your artwork give impressions of what you are making without fully defining it completely and lending it to the water.

As a wood worker most lumber yards have kilns for drying. They use off cuts or culled lumber for fuel. Additionally they sometimes burn sawdust. You could put little hints that Willy knew about his sons obsession with spoons, maybe a basement workshop where Jr would feverishly carve spoons all day, and then the new business card could be Willy senior’s handwriting because he wanted to hand off his business in a way that would support his sons ambitions. Maybe like some “fancy” tools that were a gift for Jr
It's so neat to see Mumbos entire building process, from concept to concept art to material gathering and even individual block placement, each placed with careful intent. A true genius at work!

MUMBO, don't forget your shops! If they haven't been restocked in a while, your permit might be rescinded! (Especially the case with the item frame shop) Edit: Also an awesome build! I really like the new sketching strategy you've found. Edit 2: this comment has gotten some likes so I'm shamelessly using it to promote my idea's about the bartering farm. The gold ingots automatically go into the bartering farm. The bartering outputs all kinds of things (preferably into a storage system). For mumbo most importantly leather and gravel. The leather can be used to craft item frames. If Mumbo also makes a bamboo farm he can autocraft that bamboo into sticks allowing itemframes to also be autocrafted. This creates AFK'able item frames when using the gold farm overnight. The gravel can possibly be used to make a trade deal with whoever has has that permit. Mumbo can allow that hermit to use his bartering farm to get gravel for a small weekly fee, thus also 'automating' the afk'ing part of the equation. It's even possible to make an inefficient iron farm near the gold farm to also have a small passive income of iron. Edit 3: the current owner of the sand&gravel permit should be Scar. He's the type that would just mine it for hours, so if you (Mumbo) want someone else to AFK for you, ask him quickly before he start doing that. Though it might just be better to have Scar as far away from your farm as possible, with his reputation... 😂 I look forward to what you're going to do the shops, even if it's completely different from this comment. Do you know what software is he using?

Its crazy how beautiful the colour palattes are and how well the colours work together. He said in an earlier episode that hes no artist but I’ve been making art my whole life and still struggle to make colour palettes like he does😅

@ I believe he said he is using Procreate! I also use that software, it’s mainly on iPads and those devices. It’s really good and so simple to use once you understand it!

I do love seeing more artists out there, I'm an artist too.
adding the business cards in paintings or maps would be so cute
2:13 is the best moment of mumbo jumbo history. THE DVD LOGO HIT THE CORNER
I love that both Mumbo and Zed automatically umped onto the placed magma block. They clearly had to check it works lol. Also I loved Zed and Mumbo being silly together. Hope we get more magma team shenanigans
As someone who grew up living in a tacked on room above my dad's wood workshop, I very much approve of this build.
You should have a shop at the end called Oliver's Overflow. This is for all the unsortable items and items that don't have their own shop. 🛒😃
2:14 the art mode logo hitting the corner was just 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
I love that Mumbo's found a type of building that works so well for him. You can tell he's having a making these. It's been great watching the change from the ultra-geometric bases in season 5 or 6.
mumbo, as an illustrator and graphic designer, your concept art, business cards, and your designs in general are so, so excellent. you are truly going above and beyond this season. Also, it’s been a joy to watch your decision making in real time as you’re building! I’m learning a lot from you. ❤
I hope Mumbo makes a business card for all of his buildings

I love the business card for Willy's Woodyard. The little edits, particularly the scratched out "delivers anywhere" made me laugh out loud. I also really appreciate the 'Art Mode' layout. All the little details like the art cam number and the "High definition general doodle capture device" label clearly took a lot of time to set up. It is very pleasing to watch!
Nobody but mumbo would create a whole family tree of a random small house 😂😂 such a good job ❤
The ArtMode Logo hit the corner at 2:14 , I expected it to never hit the corner. That was satisfying
‘Let’s get back to building the details on Willy’s’ - damn mumbo

As an artist, seeing your concept art speed paints is really cool! I dont know how to explain it, but your personality carries over to your art, its like youre sculpting just with lines! And I love how you let your imagination inspire you rather than letting the limitations of minecraft inspire you!
A Hermitcraft where you sweat the small stuff instead of the mega-stuff is so much more enriching. And yeah, up close it looks weird. I learned that when I started playing with colors last year. Loving the store lore BTW. Pretty sure Ron sold me a turntable back in the 80's that played at 34-1/3. Dang it...

You don’t give yourself enough credit for 1) your art skill 2) your building skill 3) your general vibe Even if you are an incredibly popular KZreadr, you are still underrated.
Ron the businessman, now Willy? This is just a Stampler family reunion. Might as well get Terry in next
Mumbo's peace love and plants VW feels like it would fit right in parked in front of one of his shops. I love the builds!

oooooooh get this to the top !!!!
Having the glow ink signs not only makes it readable but I think it also connects it (sort of) with Ron's building. Having it glowing makes it look like they both are a part of the same neighborhood and have some similarities.
Chimneys aren't a big thing in wood yards, but sawdust exhausts sure are!

Mumbo's time-lapse are more frequently like a dash cam time-lapse than a typical minecraft building time-lapse. Although, it would be interesting to see a smooth lapse from a chase cam perspective...

@@graxeltooth that’s true, (and I agree) but whenever he says, “lets do a Timelapse” it’s almost always ACTUALLY a time lapse yk?
As a cabinet builder by trade, you hit the nail on the head for our old rickety shop. The building is from the 20s and was an ice house. Like you bought the ice blocks for your icebox there. Now you walk in and its got saws everywhere and random wood scraps
You should turn the business cards into a small painting and hand them out to the hermits with a letter about the shop.
It’s amazing watching Mumbo’s evolution over the years into becoming a builder. 😊
One small suggestion for the "corrugated steel" roofs is to use regular/exposed copper instead of oxidized copper, as steel rusts orange/brown, not green

While this is true, I think the idea is to be aesthetically nice, not scientifically correct. (Also he problably doesn’t know what metal he wants and just said steel)

I really like how you represent the kind of player that is not afraid of redstone but its also not at the center of everything that you do
i feel like mumbo needs a billboard in the town because it would make it more like a town due to there being advertisements promoting the shop
I definitely heard everything he said in the art mode bit and didn't wait until the logo hit the corner perfectly. willy the metalworker sounds like such a cool guy
Building with Mumbo feels like the flip side of Redstone with Bdubs, I love this
If everyone is using the same glow squid signs, one of residents should at least have a sign shop. Maybe even a print shop that everyone gets their business cards from. On a related note, when my parents owned and rented out a building complex, one of the tenants was a sign maker, so he ended up making all the signs for the businesses there.
Hey Mumbo! I'm sure you've seen the comments on keeping the chimney, you could use a different wall material to help it stand out more. For the smoke, you could use stained glass panes to get a similar effect to your drawing!
