Because they are only found in Herkimer county. There are several places to go mining for the Herkimer Diamonds.

There is a few newer mines one is mohawk mineral mining , diamond mountain but they are 100 per day

Please someone answer a few questions i have 1. Can a metal detector also detect diamonds and other gem stones under ground. 2. Can it detect under a huge stone. 3. How deep and how long (long as in sq meters from the target ) can it properly search. 4. Which is the best and cheapest detector which is good to find both gems amd metals. (please share the link) If u answer and i find something valuable i will surely give u share of what i find.

This is called a herkimer diamond quartz crystal not a real diamond but these are found in pockets inside the rocks on certain ledges in my area . They the herkimer diamond name from how they naturally are faceted and the actual founder of it was general herkimer from a long time ago

That cant be real, just smash open a dirt wall and find diamonds? Even if it's another gem it still seems odd. That gem he pulled out had perfect cut Edges. Which also doesnt make any sense
