"Heritage" Hyper Realism Acrylic and Oil Painting
Hi everybody, my name is Michael Knepper and this is my first KZread video!
After 30 years of painting I thought it would be time to share some thoughts and some of my work with the KZread community. After decades of hard work I am finally at a point where my work is internationally recognised and appreciated. This is the dream of every artist - so one advise- stay focus and always believe in what you do. The world needs artists that use there hands not photoshop to create their masterpieces. Amazing work!

Oh! To have talent.
wow!!!
Excellent work Michael! I have a question. How do you go about getting the right size and proportions of the eyes, nose and mouth on the face? Do you measure the proportions out or you just lay it out and hope for the best? This, for me, is the hardest challenge I have when painting - I am a beginner. Thanks.
you are so good! by the way, you look like dirk nowitzki and his voice as well, sir.
Harika.
Thank you
Beautiful work! Thank you for sharing your art and your thoughts and inspiring us. I am one of those that is most likely using wrong type of brushes. From the video, I don't quiet get the type and brand of the brushes you say you use. Do you mind mentioning it here? Thanks in advance.
Wow.
Great work ...so this is all done Alla Prima in acrylic ? I'm thinking that because if oil you would have to wait a long time for the underpainting to dry . Some years back I worked with Yigal Ozeri so my appreciation for photo realism painting started there . Thanks for sharing this video .
Nice one!

Beautiful work! What type of canvas do you use?
Hey! It's great. So. Сan you give me a piece of advice? I can't choose oil or acrylic paint for similar work.)))
Fetter Gitarrensound! Danke für das tolle Video.
I just wanted to know what colours should I use while painting shiny silver surfaces like spoons in a hyperlistic painting
upload more videos,you is a great artist
no fuckin grid either! proper old school fairplay to him..absolutely amazing
This is a masterpiece painted by a master artist. Please, when you make your next video choose softer music. I had to keep turning the sound off when you were not speaking. Otherwise I love love love the video. Please make many more. .... joyce
Amazing! I hope you post more videos of your work and process. It's fascinating. If your don't mind me asking, how long did that take you to paint?

+Boots Zara Walken, it is hard to say since sometimes I put them aside and start or work on a different painting. Especially when you work on a size like that you might need some distance from time to time. Additionally, the Oil sometimes need a long time to dry properly so then is when I start working on a different project and get stuck ; ) But from beginning to end it was about 2 months with on and off periods!
you are amazing

Wonderful painting! Would have been helpful for a bit more information in your video. When you say we can see you use oil and acrylic we can but how and when?😊
Teach me Senpai!

So was this primarily oil or acrylic? I didn't catch that when you went over your tools. Thank you. Amazing work!

+weMASSIVE it depends, the foundation is acryl and when I go into details and or try to achieve the smoothest transition possible I use oil - feel free to send me a message through facebook or my HP if you have additional questions.

Hi! I did the groundwork with acrylic color and the elaboration in oil!
how much time will take to make a painting like this and how should i dry it faster ?
Liebe dich dafür das du synthetische Pinsel nutzt
Hi michael..thanks for your video.you artwork are amazing..i have a question..usually i use acrylic painting .but i found that my painting have a rough stroke ..and i cannot make a smooth transition..do you think that acrylic can make a smooth transition like oil painting ?
@michaelknepper9085
5 жыл бұрын
Hi Ryan, thank you ver much for your compliment , I appreciate it very much! To your question:To get a smooth transition with acrylic colors you can use a retarder and of course you need the right brush . I know that there are so many different brushes in the market that you easily can loose track of . But I think you'll find the right brush by detailed exercises! I personally like the combination to paint with acrylic colors (groundwork) together with oil colors for the elaboration . Kind regards from Hamburg /Germany Michael
I would love to know at which point you transition to oils and why. I am an oil painter myself. I have only combined the two when I use acrylics to color the canvas.

Hi Jenny, I use acrylic for priming and groundwork because of the longer dry time of oil!
do you make the base in acrylic then do the details in oil? amazing! im trying to improve my skills
@michaelknepper9476

Yes Anna ! I use acrylic for Priming , for the groundwork and oil for the elaboration 😊

Michael Knepper that’s amazing Michael Thank you 😊 🙏
Great video!! How many layers do you use to achieve the realism?
@michaelknepper9085
5 жыл бұрын
Actually 3 or more paint applications-starting with acrylic color for the groundwork and finish the painting with oil color.
Michael great skill... What is the essence of doing something to this degree of perfection, for you? \
@michaelknepper9085
5 жыл бұрын
Hi , I use to work in different paint applications-starting the groundwork with acrylic color and do the elaboration in 2 or 3 steps with oil color. And of course you need the right brush for every painting phase!

Hi I'm learning to paint myself I was wondering how you get accurate proportions on large pieces like this? I have been trying to grid method but i always get a bit lost
@LIjah97
7 жыл бұрын
agreed, and feel exactly the same way. Proportions are much easier for me when in a smaller scale. When done this big, it's always a wonder how they get so accurate without the use of a grid. I think it's all from experience

Hi Georgia, you can large pieces like this divide into small squares to get the right proportions (like old masters did)or you can use a projector.
you really should upload more videos.
What oil colors tu use?👍
Usually use Oil or Acrylic paint? for example in this work?
@michaelknepper9085

Both Manuel- Acrylic for the Groundwork and oil for the elaboration!
