The power of light rolls!

Dude; beautiful gameplay, excellent spell load out (which I'm itching to try out), and I'm loving the fashion. I think this vid shows magic and mage builds at their best. It was a pleasure to watch this. Cheers! :D

(warning: biased) Sorceries and fashion for casters are great in that game, especially compared to Ds3. Love it.

That quickstep between the spiral was pretty smooth

Friendly tip : Put azur glinstone staff off-hand to boost casting speed so you don't have to depend on radagon icon and can use another talisman instead, in fact azur glinstone staff give more casting speed

Heilroom Talisma + Azur = Max Cast Speed with 0 DEX.

Nice play. Small tips for you. Use Star Shower instead of Stars of Ruin. You will not hit with all projectiles and thats the point. Stars of Ruin has more projectiles than shower but the ones from shower hit harder. You can strafe Ruin and Shower not. The Bow (Range) Talisman increases the range of ambush shard. The consumable Large Glintstone Scrap will add a new layer of hell to your setup and gives time to drink your FP flask. Terra Magica still slaps. If you like to slice and dice do it on the blue kitchen table.

This was educational as a non mage to know what to look out for. The light rolling would be tough to deal with I feel like

With 4/5 people choosing med load over light load in 2023 I don't think it will get nerfed anytime soon. -Fat roll guy with a pike who destroys light load.

This is a good reason to have the sentinel shield on hand lol

Nice video! Is actually hard sometimes being a mage. You have to manage your FP cost and understand what spells work best for each opponent you face. Is not just spamming spells like a lot of people assume.

It's fun cause I've barely played elden ring so all of this looks amazing although holy fuck facing a mage would want me to commit sewer slide pronto. Some of these guys get pretty close tho

there are multiple ways to counte rmages thouhg. you can take a shield with magic resistance and just block everything, or take the spell parry ability and just throw everything back at them

It's not really pure caster builds that are a problem, its really just light rolls. light rolling used to be useless but they patched it so that you can just do it repeatedly and not get rollcaught ever and it can be used to get an insane amount of distance really easily, which is weird because thats the same patch they also nerfed repeated use of bloodhound step. personally when i play casters i dont build them to light roll even if they dont have particularly good zoning options just bcus i dont find it fun

You should do Gelmir magma sorceries… they are fun and cause a lot of chaos

I keep thinking about this when I see Mage in PvP. Love sorceries, and it makes me wonder how important it is as a melee-centric build to not jump in headfirst, but to watch their spell rotation. There might be some counterplay in knowing they'll have to swap to Zamor or Stars of Ruin at the wrong time when you advance. Perhaps they haven't used pebble or comet in a while? I feel someone with depth of knowledge about these kinds of things would do well against mages. Just some thoughts.

Completely agreed, most melee builds just try to rush you without any thought and complain about spam when they get 2 comets in face

@Easily Peasily str has so many advantages over a mage. Once you know the spells what they gona land on me? It boils down to slicer , piercer. Melee has a much higher skill ceiling

@Easily Peasily yea good point but my opinion it massively changes against good players good luck landing anything other than the top 5 spells . Why str has such a higher skill celling. Instant raw damage quickly and you can apply grease to change playstyles on fly, you have much more hard swap potential and two handing a weapon is a 1.5 x str multiplayer so that allows more points in endurance ect. Just my opinion

Do you use mouse and keyboard or controller. I find swapping spells and moving a little difficult with controller. And know mkb would be easier but I got so much muscle memory in controller it’s hard to switch.

I think a lot of people just don’t know how to fight a mage. Light roll is deft frustrating but you can still get around it. The mages Kill box is medium too long range and if you notice a lot of people will spend most of the time running back and fourth in the kill box instead of pushing. I always push a mage and it will throw them off in many ways because trying to cycle through spells while running can be a lot and also most spells can’t track at close range example… “star shower”making it easy to dodge and countering with attacks. Also, if you really want to seal the deal on a mage you should be carrying barrier of gold. You can tell a good player from a bad when when a good player is prepared for every style of fighter vs a bad one who thinks his simpleton build is just going to apply to everyone. I think mages are in a good spot right now and don’t need to be messed with.

I made mage builds in ds3 and er where I only use conjured weapons and people are still reluctant to get into close range, it's weird... people normally think that they can run away from me to heal and just get smacked with Adula's moon blade as well People tend to get close if I have a weapon in my right hand, even though I barely use it It IS hard to cycle spells while fighting, even if I crab my left hand to swap spells, it takes away a bit of concentration from the fight

That is assuming they will let you buff up bro. Most mages I fight against just start spamming their spells as soon as we spawn in the colosseum, so what you're saying is nonsense. MOST mages I fight also have a weapon with bloodhound step, Sorceries were already strong upon the game's release and it doesn't seem like it changed at all.

I noticed in the video that even aggressive ones gets outmatched, and light rolling is the reason. The distance of the roll is too safe and unpunishable, glad they nerfed it.

Why one with shield

Nice showcase. I don't think the pair of lisat's staff (consumes more FP) and haima glintstone crown(reduces total FP by 10%) I did try similar build and I can't spam much sorcery as I use to. It affects the FP consumption. Great content.

@@nicolbolas8758 you can swing your sword and run it just depends on how much poise you have. Poise is for “big boys”, My dude has 101 poise and I swing through anyones attacks if they try trading or if I need to run and fight through something.

I hate how people are using mages wrong in elden ring. Zoning is disrespectful, get into their faces and nuke them like a man.

lol that’s what I do. I push people especially other mages with duel straight swords then when they fall back I’ll throw Cannon of haima at them but instead of locking it on I’ll aim it my self leading the throw and they run into it every time… game over

You are the types of people that ruin duels like I just want to fight people that are good at the game and yet I always end up with people spamming or using int builds like put down the staff put down the moonvail and get good

Relax dude, you can check out my other videos where I use non meta melee builds. This was my first time using sorcery in PVP, and I got to admit, it felt cheap most of the time. Regardless I had fun with something new
