me too I also had it on PS2 and this video made me remind all the good things this game has like the car customisation, the races, the soundtrack in both eras, the way everything change from the 70s to 2006, everything the devs attempted to do with this game was a success and it is together with driver 3 some of my best memories from the childhood

Driver 3 is actually fun if you stay far away from the campaign, which is absolutely awful. The Free Ride mode is where the game can be great fun. Which is exactly what I played as a kid, and still enjoy today. Playing through the campaign for the first time recently was a horrible experience.

About 12 years ago, I received this game as a gift without knowing anything about it. When the era changed from 1978 to 2006, my 10-year-old brain was blown away. I never saw something like that happen before, and I love the fact that I had no idea that it would happen. The fact that someone is making a benchmark video comparing eras from Driver Parallel Lines, on top of all the people in the comments writing about their fond memories of this game (which I thought was the most forgotten and least cared game of all time) brings me so much joy. Gameplay wasn't anything to write home about, but my god did this game give you a special feeling when playing it, nothing quite like it.

I remember back in 2006 getting the game for my birthday and seeing the intro and thinking to myself: "Dear God, this has to be the closest thing to real-life ever!". Overall amazing game, especially the driving (as it should be as a Driver game, which Driv3r horribly failed at). In the Ubistore it's currently selling for €1,25 AND it runs butter smooth on high framerates, without the physics freaking out. I do recommend playing on a controller though, as the mouse-support is basically none existant.

I had Driver 76 on the PSP, I just read that the PSP game was a prequel to Parallel Lines. No wonder I was confused 😆 I don’t remember much of the PSP game...maybe i’ll charge the PSP after finishing Parallel Lines.

I looooved the driving physics in Driv3r, and the damage looked great on it compared to GTA3 or Vice City. I spent hours just driving around having fun. Didn't really bother with the missions :P

Driver 76 is actually the prequel to Driver PL. In 76, you play as Ray who is the owner of the auto shops in Driver PL. Also one of the antagonists, Slink, is the deuteragonist to Ray in 76.

I pre-ordered Driver parallel lines at the time and still remember vividly when I came to pick it up from GameStop. The GS employee told me how disappointed he was with it and that it was not worth it, but I still got it and enjoyed the heck out of it. I was happy it retained the detailed car damage system and slow mo camera mode from D3.

First of all happy new year to you. This is a nice recommendation, I love Driver Parallel Lines it's a game that takes me back to my childhood when I had my PS2, I cherished this game because of the physics and the 1970s setting. It's one of those games from the PS2 era that made me feel like I had a PS3, this one and FlatOut 2 were to games that amazed me with the details on car and damage physics. I have beaten it in all the Platforms it's available, maybe today it won't have the flair that it got back then since besides the driving, Story and maybe the shooting, there's not really a lot of depth to it. Edit.Grammar.

always found people calling Driver a "GTA clone" funny because Driver did the whole 3d open world stuff before GTA did (Driver 1 = 1999; GTA 3 = 2001)

I played 1999's Driver 1 in 2001, on my Athlon T-bird PC, which had no internet, both with a Voodoo 3 3000 (which has 16 MB of VRAM) and later on with a GeForce 2 MX200 32 MB. It was known for quirks, first, the radar animation seemed to be acting strange with my GeForce 2 MX200, which I got on October 5, 2001 and it seemed better with my Voodoo 3 3000. (both AGP) Also, it's incompatible with NT-based Windows, the audio will be messed up with Windows 2000 and Windows XP, so back to Windows 98 SE I go!

You should also try true crime and true crime la, which are previous games of sleeping dogs (which was initially true crime until Activision canceled it and closed studio which reformed as independence studios and somehow dealed with activation to give them away unfinished game, but Activision kept true crime trademark so devs made a new name Sleeping dogs)

Parallel lines was one of the greatest games i ever played as a kid,the variety of cars, presentation of new york at the time was even better then Gta,and story blew my mind and that transition from 1978 to 2006 blew me away as a 10 year old, only grip was game focused a bit too much on gun fights rather then driving itself which is the main basis of driver games.

I LOVE THIS GAME, normally i don't comment on KZread Videos, but this game... It was the first non-f2p non-children-suited game and I always wanted to play GTA San Andreas but was way too young to buy it for myself and my parents didn't want to buy it for me (somehow I got them to buy driver parallel lines😅), after some time I also played San Andreas and while I spent more time playing San Andreas, Parallel Lines has such a special place in my heart... the music, especially in the first half of the game, omg, influenced me for the rest of my life, even if it's just a nostalgic feeling I also still love this game, played it sooo much back in the day, have to get a external DVD/CD-driver thing to play it on my laptop, or maybe I even will buy it again as a Download... I loooove it!!!! But like already mentioned in the video, I think nostalgia plays a huge role in my opinion.. I still think if you can get it for a few bucks and like games in this style - absolutely worth a try!
