Here's Why You Should Buy A 2002 Toyota Camry

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Subscribe Today!! Doing a quick review and showing you why you should buy a 2002 Toyota Camry. These cars are incredibly reliable and cheap to maintain. They drive like a car of newer age. These 2.4ltr 4 cylinder engines were produced to perform way ahead of their time. This is why there are many of these on the roads today running strong even with hundreds of thousands of miles. The gas mileage is excellent. The driveability is excellent. They hold up very well and won't leave you stranded. Talk about a great commuter car, these cars are bulletproof with their quality of build. I expect to get mine over 300k miles with no serious mechanical issues at all. I have had no issues so far other than replacing the tires, battery and doing routine oil changes. If you want a great car for a great price that will hold its value very well than this is the right vehicle for you. Go test drive one and you will be blown away by what a great car these vehicles really are. Thanks for watching and make sure to like the video and subscribe to my channel.

I put goodyear tires on it only because the pirellis were 12 years expired changed the oil and filters and transmission fluid. Brake pads and struts and shocks because leaking. I paid $4000 for the car but two owner, and sellin only because wife having baby. He bought from family friend who owned it for 18 years but did not drive it much hence the mileage.I feel extremely lucky to have found it and btw the paint is perfect, no dings or dents or loss of clearcoat. I believe the years of 2002- 2006 were better quality built and this one was built in Japan. First owner was Japanese. I'm American retired in The Philippines!

I have a 2003 Camry LE 4 cyl with 198k miles on it; just recently it had to go into the shop for the dreaded head bolt stripping issue. This 2.4L engine has the same problem as the Cadillac Northstar engines where the steel head bolts strip out of the aluminum block and they need to be rethreaded, causing the engine to randomly overheat (another sign of this problem occurring is water sloshing sounds behind the dashboard, as mine did). The total bill came to about $1900 and that included rethreading all 10 bolt holes and a head bolt kit, a valve job (some got destroyed from overheating), and a new water pump. This is the best way to fix the issue, as a replacement engine could have the same problem. The fix is worth it; car runs like it's brand new. Still believe it's one of the best cars ever made.

Great video! I'm in the market for a used car in the sub-$3K range - I need a reliable daily driver to replace my totaled Hyundai - and so far, I've just looked at Tauruses and Impalas because I thought that was the best I could do for the money. Well, I've located a 2002 Camry XLE locally that has 215,000 miles on it, but it looks pristine physically and hopefully it checks out mechanically. Hoping to test drive it soon. I drove a Toyota Tacoma pickup for more than 20 years and it was a fantastic vehicle. It's good to get further validation of the quality of the Camry. Thanks again!

Both are four cylinders but the Toyota has a lot more pickup and power when you put your foot on the gas. Yes, a very smooth ride and similar to the Honda I don't "worry" about this car ... just super dependable and low maintenance. Glad to see so many others who are enjoying this model too. I just replaced the tires and went with Yokohama Avid GT, good tires, good price. Also a rear brake light went out ... super easy to replace the $6 bulb from amazon with help from a KZread video.

I drained and filled the transmission fluid three times, with some driving between drain and fills, and I replaced the transmission filter. Definitely pretty good cars, 200K is just getting started. I bought a 2003 for my daughter 5 years ago with 180K on it. Same color as yours, except the clearcoat was worse and it had the 3.0 V6 engine. She took it all over the western US and also drove it every day, too. It never let her down, nothing done except regular maintenance in all that time. It now has almost 290K on it and still looks great inside (apparently about 99% of these cars have that tear in the dash around the airg bag). However, all of a sudden it needs several things at once - steering rack, water pump, windshield, a hard-to-find vacuum leak that throws a code, plus probably a few other things. All fixable, and frankly overdue for replacement anyhow, but quite a bit of money to throw at a hgh mileage 17 year old car , so she is moving on a much newer car instead. Not sure what that will be, but I doubt she'll have as much luck with the new one. Although the V6 worked well for her, I would recommend the 4 cylinder engine instead. The V6 is much more powerfull, but is more expensive to repair, harder to work on, and is known to be susceptible to sludge problems.

You may possibly develop a head gasket leak around 230,000 miles. The head bolts on the intake manifold side strip out of the block due to spot overheating from the insulation between the intake and the head. If you do notice it, there is a relatively easy fix called "Time Sert". They're basically advanced helicoil kits that you drill the stripped holes out and insert new threads. I did it and now my 2003 camry is up to 362,000 miles. It burns oil really bad so I've decided to rebuild the engine.

I love my 2010 Camry 2.5L i4 LE I’ve done tons of maintenance all wear and tear items. I live in NY where there’s salt. Yea... did a full front suspension rebuilt. New struts and springs all around. Front ball joints, control arms were replaced. These old Toyota’s ball joints go bad from NYC roads. No paint fade bc I take care of my paint. Wash, clay and paint seal will avoid paint fade, or cracking. Car has 180K miles. I do have winter tires on steelies for the winter as well. It’s a great car. Big trunk too. AC is ice cold. Interior holds up with the cloth. Only thing doesn’t hold up is the headliner in the front. I now use a sunshade. I plan to drive this until it dies. I did put weathertech floor mats. Keep in mind I own fun weekend cars like M3 e90 V8, MK7 GTi PP Stage 2. Also have a vintage MB Roadster. The Camry is the best for daily. I also changed all fluids. I did change both hood struts. There are surface rust in engine back and bottom of car. 180k water pump junked it. As I put a new battery, Denso alternator, and Aisen water pump. Replaced both belts, changed both tensioners as they were all rusted, worn, and grinding noise. It’s nice that parts are cheap and easy to work on. I’m impressed that the car doesn’t use any oil. Steering fluid was just flushed. No one does it. If it’s black change it out! Eventually it’ll kill the pump, and leak. I wish I didn’t have to put money into it. My rotors are all warped. Gonna change them out for good ones soon. I did replace the brake pads to oem Toyota ceramic pads. No dust all at now. Even tho it’s a beater. It needs to look presentable. I kept getting misfires. I changed out the spark plugs and all Denso coil packs. Cleaned the MAF sensor as well. Car had a K&N and it really helps. Don’t care what anyone says.

It's been frustrating for me since I don't mind turning a wrench or two to fix my car but without a scan tool you are pretty much at the mercy of the mechanic. The parts to fix these items are not cheap either, just passing along my experience I've had with my Camry. Pluses and the negatives

woww, super glad to hear the car got that many miles on the trans before it went out. a rebuild will bring it right back to life or just get a used trans for it. they are fairly cheap if you know where to look. that's awesome you have that many miles on it. I hope you take it over 400k miles👌

I have an '02 in blue just like you. 270K still going strong...ish. I live up north so the rust really got to it. A little bodywork should take care of it though. I need to replace the valve cover gasket, piston rings and some suspension components. But I can't bring myslef to let it die. I love it and like you said, it's way ahead of its time. Still starts and runs just as smooth as always.

I got the 2004 Camry Sportivo with 290k km on the odometer so far, still great condition and drives awesome! Everyone that jumps in always says how comfy and smooth it is, the only thing that dates the vehicle the most is the stock tape/cd/radio player that I still have in it, which I considered replacing but haven't bothered yet. Got a tape adapter for music and mobile phones are way better for gps anyway.

I do have a question...last year I took it in for oil change and noticed it was leaking oil after that. Took it back to them with complaint and they redid the oil change and said occasionally the oil plug doesn't get tightened properly. But, the car still continues to leak small amounts under the right front side of the car. Any ideas what I should have it cked for? Thanks, not a mechanic just a grandma! I dont want to get ripped off.

that's a good car that will last a long time. well, sounds like they have people working on cars that definitely aren't qualified to do so. I would take a look underneath to see if you see any visible oil leaking from around the oil pan and drain plug. also, look at the oil filter to see if there is oil leaking from around it. I would check around the block to see if you have any gasket leaks or wetness around it. hope this helps 👍

@@DaylyDriverDayly I get where you're coming from but I literally bought of an old lady, my aunt, who babied this car and it is the upper trimmed model with bells and whistles. I've looked at new cars and just figure I'll be driving this car until I'm 8 ft under. Not to mention that the job I got after buying this 2002 gave me a car for personal use making this a week end drive. Short of getting into a wreck, I'm gonna have it for a long time. So, I figure a paint job which my buddies will cut me a deal on is worth it. Theses cars can easily make to over 300,000 miles if they were treated right. is the car bouncing around when you go over bumps or dips in the road? push down on both the front driver and passenger wheel fenders. if the car bounces a lot you know they may need to be replaced. you dont want much play or bunch in the car when pushing down on either fender 👌
