Here's why the Peugeot RCZ is still the best sports coupe

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The French are known to be the best in many ways, but who would've thought manufacturing sports coupes was one of those specialities? Join me in this great machine for one final drive.

    A British magazine writer/reviewer hit the nail on the head, described the reaction when he arrived at his golf club, in an RCZ, when they first came out,,the car emptied the bar, everyone rushed to see this beautiful car, then immediately went back inside when they saw the badge. Even now lots of people totally unaware the RCZ's were built by Magna Steyr in Austria, same company have also built cars for Aston, Jag & Mercedes.

    I'm about to get mine. A 200hp. full light grey leather including extended over the dashboard. And cherry on the top it has the R''s duplex exhaust FROM FACTORY. It's a 2nd phase though to bad; I preferred the look of the 1st phase's front. I wanted a R because of the torsen dif on wet roads and the crazy seats. But there is a $$$ premium and also... i'm just scared of the cost of maintaining the upgraded brakes and the potential repairs on the engine. It's been tailored for 270 bhp and worry that some parts will be hard to find or will cost a lot. Also the insurance. The peugeot badge helps my budget as it will be cheaper to insure and run than a Audi TT. I saw @motorscotti his tutorial to upgrade the nav system... but his RCZ had the most basic sound system. I'm not sure I can upgrade my system whish is the mid-spec one (without the phone dials/hardrive). I hope I can find some workaround to mirror a phone on the pop up screen. Fingers crossed; but not a deal breaker.

    Driving an RCZ 156 for 6 month. Drives great (for a 115 kw auto), but I hear the engines are only good for 200k and can not be rebuilt, fortunately still have 140k to go.

    I thought they were using the same engine (THP 1.6 156/200 in other cars like 208GT, 308, DS,...) Are you sure it's not replaceable ?

  • @vladislavfeldman6562

    @vladislavfeldman6562

    As far as I understand, they are replaceable not rebuildable you can't rebore the cylinders. You can only get a second hand engine or another new one and yes 208 and 308, Citroen, mini, BMW 1 and 2 have the same engine, but the mounting points will probably be different , so you'll need some fabrication (expensive) to fit them.

    Hey so I have a 2011 RCZ myself but it sounds nowhere near as good as yours. What exhaust do you have on it and did you turbocharge it as only the R version is already turbocharged?

    Hi there! The exhaust on this car is actually stock, and being the 200 thp model, it comes standard with a turbocharger. In fact all RCZs in Australia are turbocharged.

    They are all turbocharged. The 156 is the highest an automatic can cope with, the 162 is the 2 lt diesel, the 200 only in manual and the R 270 strengthened engine, stregthened gearbox.

    Have you ever driven one or are you just following the bandwagon of assuming that French cars are shit? Since I started driving, I learned that it's pointless to comment on a car's true characteristics unless I've driven it. You can still have an opinion on looks without driving it but without actually driving it, you have no idea what it's really like. I'm thinking about buying an RCZ instead of an Audi TT
