I agree, my newest truck is 15 years old and I actually prefer older. I still think the 90’s were a high a high mark for all manufacturers, both trucks my Dads business bought went over 400,000 miles before we sold them and we still see them around with their new owners. I just can’t see the new ones going that long as there’s too many things to break that cost more than the truck is worth.

I was at the Dodge dealership the other day and they wanted 79k for a gas Ram truck. It wasn't any better at the other dealerships. Their work truck special was in the 30k range, but still... I'm old enough to remember when you could buy a bare bones pickup truck that was the less expensive alternative to buying a car. These prices now are crazy! I'm just a poor public servant, there's no way I can pay almost 80 grand for pickup truck, and I can't even see spending 30k when you can still buy a reliable used one for less than 10k.

@@RobertSmith-le8wp Gotta love desert climates. Over here in Kuwait even GM trucks can last decades. The weather is so dry you almost never see rust damage on cars unless someone has been very liberal with a hose. And using a hose on a car is illegal here now, so cars generally will last even longer. There's no saving them from electrical problems though. With both the American and European brands it's typically either the electrical systems, the A/C or the plastic and rubber parts that get destroyed by the heat, sand and sunlight. Part of why any picture you see of traffic in a Middle Eastern country will be dominated by primarily Japanese brands. It's Scotty's paradise. Toyotas everywhere.

Any engine is going to extract more power with cold air intake. It will run more efficiently. It may not get the massive boost you might get with a turbo or supercharger but your engine will run more efficient with a little more power. If it's worth doing the exhaust it's worth doing the cold air.

A nice truck indeed, But personally I don't routinely carry enough passengers that can't adequately be carried with an extracab - that easily accommodates 3 extra adults just fine - unless perhaps if one is traveling cross country. I would much rather have the secure storage space and the extra functional capacity of the bed.

Hey Scotty, I am in highschool and I'm about to get my license. I have been fixing my family's cars for a couple years now and I run a small engine repair business (mostly buying, repairing and selling mowers) I want a car with a carburetor that I can work on and do my own repairs and modifications on. I'm not looking to build a drag car but I would not mind something a little more sporty like maybe a Cutlass or a Chevy Nova, maybe a Malibu. Would it be practical and possible for me to daily drive a car like this or would I be stupid for trying? Thanks-- Jack

Great truck. I had an 09’ and would still have it but for the rusted out rear lower cab corners. Michigan truck. I saw in the video the tell tale rust at the drivers door seal slot in the seal. Water gets trapped in the rocker below and sloshes back and forth to the rear of the cab. I would drill hole underneath at the rear to at least get water out. It was the only issue I ever had.

Scotty, I'm a big fan of yours, and I do have a question. I'm looking for a work truck four-door, that can fit four or five people in it. I don't want anything fancy, I want something good, reliable that I can fix it myself if needed, or a truck that won't cost me two arms and a leg at the mechanics'. I preferred used, but if I have to, I'll buy a brand new F-150, if you recommend it. I just want a RELIABLE work truck. Don't care if it's got a dent two, it's a truck. Just need a good reliable work truck. What would you recommend?

Up here in Canada, they frequently take off the running boards on many vehicles because they trap snow, and slush...most jurisdictions use salt on the roads, and as running boards trap slush, they cause premature rusting on the undercarriage and body.

You do have a great looking truck, love it's still V8 like the wheels as with you and love all the blue gauge indicators in the dash , I'll bet it kind of gives a cool blue glow at night. I used to have a 1980 Ford two tone blue and white, first year independent suspension front diff. four wheel drive pickup. I took the dome light out of my wrecked 1970 Camaro and mounted up in the top of my glove box with a piece of blue spot light lens material and put it under the cover of it. You could drive around with the glove box open and it glowed blue all through the cab at night and made it along with all the other stuff I did to into a really cool truck. They didn't come with all the stuff they have now days. You had to do stuff yourself back then.
