Here's What's Wrong with the 2022 Toyota Tacoma

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

quotes.everymandriver.com/ - Get matched in seconds with the right vehicle, at the right price and at the right dealer.
For many years, the Toyota Tacoma was the default choice when it came to midsize trucks. It offered everything truck buyers were looking for and had few competitors. There are now more choices in this segment, but the Tacoma remains a top contender. Much of its appeal comes from a reputation for durability, off-road capability, and a lineup that offers everything from a two-wheel-drive extended cab up to a four-wheel-drive TRD Pro. Base models come standard with a four-cylinder engine with 159 horsepower while higher trims get a larger V6 with 278 hp. Both cab styles feature four doors, but the extended cab uses smaller reverse opening rear doors while the crew cab gets standard, full-size rear doors. Both 5- and 6-foot bed lengths are available along with rear- or four-wheel drive. Upgrade packages from Toyota Racing Development (TRD) gives the Tacoma improved performance on the road or in the dirt depending on the package. The Tacoma's interior favors function over form as most of the controls use large knobs and buttons. Recent improvements to the user interface have made the touchscreen controls easier to operate, but it's still not the best system in the class.
Key competitors include the Ford Ranger and newly redesigned Nissan Frontier, along with long-time rivals, the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon twins. There's also the Jeep Gladiator which matches the Tacoma for off-road capability but lacks the diverse array of configurations.

As a truck guy who’s often in the backwoods of Colorado and Utah, I’ve got to go with reliability which is why I chose the Tacoma above it’s competition.

I almost bought a new Tacoma trd pro but was very disappointed in the expensive pro package that was mostly an appearance package with nice shocks, I have owned three Toyota trucks.. they all have been relatively reliable but surprisingly not as reliable as my old 1993 f-250, just my experience, I had to replace my front ends on my Toyota trucks every year or 1.5 years… and head gaskets a few times in every truck… that’s not reliable… Dont be biased , it keeps the company accepting mediocrity…and not improving.. this pro. Here has very limited front wheel travel, no option for lower gears, no option for larger tires, a weak composite box that breaks… this is common knowledge amongst dirt bikers that use their trucks to haul bikes.. watch dirt lifestyle..

@@vincefairleigh6899are you kidding? Sounds like you are biased. Gaskets leak doesn't mean it's unreliable. Also changing front end every 1.5 years? Get out of here. Sounds like you are making stuff up. Also ford's are absolute garbage. They are the most recalled trucks of all the manufacturers! Mainly engine problems. 😅

I have an Army Green 2020 Tacoma TRD pro. There simply isn’t anything out there, that in my mind, would give me the same “worry free” ownership that this truck gives me. Not the most expensive, not the quickest, not the flashiest, not an iPhone on wheels, but just enough to be useful for everyday life.

I would still take a Tacoma over any of the others brands simply on reliability and dependability. Technological advancement is not important in my opinion. GM, Ford and Stillantis reliability and dependability is in the toilet.

You know what’s wrong ? People are being sold by big fancy screens and all the tech you don’t need and forget about reliability. That Tacoma has a 6 bolt main motor which is the 2GR-FKS , which in the Lotus sports car that puts out around 5-600 HP, very robust motor to say the least, add a big 8.75 inch rear ring gear to that as well, with big axles, large spindles , and hubs that are directly from Hilux AND the transfer case plus the trans are also shared with the unbreakable Hilux. I don’t want to do 0-60 in 4 seconds in my Tacoma I just want RELIABILITY, DEPENDABILITY, I wanna be able to go anywhere I want and come back home EVERY time , even when my ODO has over 300,000 miles now that my friend is why I bought a Gen3 Tacoma and absolutely LOVE it , wouldn’t trade it for any other truck on the market . I have 30,000 miles on my 21 TRD ORDC 4x4 right now . 270,000 miles to go!!!

Bought a 22 Tacoma sr access cab 4x4 trusted 2.7 motor, sluggish transmission, but I knew this going in. I didn't buy a race truck I bought a practical truck will run for a long time with minimal problems! A proven track record with this setup! 4x4 will be great with the nasty winters we get in the extreme northeast. Love mine as well! Simple truck for a simple man! Base model is all you need!!!!

I have a 21 Trd Off Road. It’s a great truck. Feels like it will last over 300k miles. Yes the back seat is small. But I rarely use it. I wish it was a little bigger & had the Ridgeline design folding rear seats. The V6 & 6 speed auto works fine. Although I’d prefer a the a 4cyl Turbo & Hybrid setup with 8-10 speed auto for more Mpg & Torque. Dream of a Turbo Diesel. A small complaint, I wish the tailgate had flat areas to sit things when lowered. The hood is super heavy. Should’ve been aluminum. I think Tacoma’s are the most Reliable, followed by the Frontier, Ranger, Colorado/Canyon, in that order.

I use a truck for work. I have simple needs. It needs to heat in the winter, is inexpensive, not snap in half on remote roads, and last roughly 400,000kms. 50/50 pavement. Ive had 4 ford’s in a row that have done it, including 3 3.5’s and current is a 5.0 (which is doing the best out of the 4) I’ve ordered a tacoma and I hope it isn’t a regret.

I don't know where this guy got these concepts from. I've had a tacoma for years and it works like a clock. Toyota's philosophy is practicality reliability and dependability these trucks were originally designed for durability if some folks out there looking for fancy gauges they could go with Lexus or other luxury trim levels in terms of comfortable very comfortable as a pick up truck it gets the job done more than expected. in the end I would pick any Toyota product over any Ford or Chevy etc

It was a deal breaker for me, if you do not have a comfortable driving position you won't be happy with any vehicle.

I love this colour , i just wish it came factory with a more powerful motor that was more efficient like the competition… Toyota needs to go back to the drawing board with the limited front suspension , at least make it as good as the bronco front suspension, the trd pro probably has half the wheel travel and the small tires on the pro must go along with the highway gears… to modify this slightly would get extremely expensive to be on par with a Jeep gladiator… do some research on that before falling back on the perception that Toyota is reliable… it’s not anymore, I have owned three Toyotas and loyal to no brands, the way we all should be, if we were we would have better vehicles.

Overpriced? Definitely, but let's be honest. If you need a daily car which can take some stuff, looks nice, is reliable, comfortable and has not bad gas consumption then why not to take the basic one? My 2008 Taco is in Access Cab and that's it. Everything is basic as possible. Poor package works good. Sure, I miss only cruise control but I can live with it or add in the future. Pickup trucks are the best if you want to modificate it the way you want and I think this is the essence of these cars. Basic as possible > full package

Just traded a '20 Tacoma TRD Off Road for a 21 Galdiator. My main beefs with the Tacoma were a terrible driving position, terrible handling, too-touchy brakes, and the fact that the thing couldnt handle even a slightly larger wheel/ tire combo without rubbing everywhere. The Gladiator on 35 inch tires handles like a sports car compared to the Taco. Never thought a Jeep would out handle ANYTHING.

Plain and simple, that's the way toyota has been since day one, love it or hate it. Everyone else is like android, they offer you the most, yet you least desire it. Bottom end, the more tech you got, the more you'll pay to repair, so thank you toyota!!
