Anyone who thinks he's "obviously guilty" in this case hasn't actually been paying attention. Is he guilty of some crimes somewhere in general? Probably. But this case is so convoluted and clearly politically motivated. Their claim is that he knew 100% what the money he was paying Cohen was for, that it was 100% for campaign purposes (with no personal motivations), and that he intentionally falsified paperwork to make it look like it was just legal fees and not campaign fees. Yet during the trial Cohen admitted to stealing over $30,000 from the exact payments that the prosecution is claiming Trump knew where every dollar was going from. Obviously not or he would have noticed $30k-60k missing. Past that he is not the one that files his own business/campaign paperwork. And then on top of all that even if he was guilty of all this, this is, and has always been, a misdemeanor, but in this case they are trying to make it a felony just because it's Trump. This whole trial is obviously a partisan scam and it's so outlandish that it's pushing away lifetime Democrats like myself from the party.

Trump feels like he should be able to do whatever he wants because he was president. But this crime was from when he was running for president, so the immunity shouldn't count. Unless our corrupt s. court says Trump has total immunity before, during and after his presidency. Vote Biden/Blue all the way down the ballot. Then we'll have time for all of Trump's trials and maybe we can clean up a corrupt s. court too.

The commentators describe the trial as a contest between two evenly matched foes and a case that could go either way, a nail-biter. I’ve read the transcripts, and one thing is sure: the attorneys are all pros, all of them better than good. However, the prosecution built a strong case, and the defense is handicapped by not having one; Michael Cohen did air his sordid history and casual relation with the truth, but every salient point he made was corroborated in triplicate. Costello was a sour note in the defense, which was little more than the character assassination of Michael Cohen. The case is not complicated. If Donald Trump falsified business records intending to influence the election, he committed a crime. He did that. If any jury wants more than the evidence presented here, nobody would ever be convicted of anything. Of course., I thought OJ did it.

What blew Honig's mind wasn't the prosecution finding video evidence that backed up Cohen's story about phone call? It also wasn't the prosecution showing emails from Costello that showed he was working on behalf of Trump and Rudy the whole time he was talking to Cohen just like Cohen suspected? I guess I shouldn't be surprised. His analysis has been pretty poor and biased for the defense throughout.

I’ve honestly been glad to have his takes to temper my expectations about the case. Not because he’s arguing the defense’s side in any of these discussions, but because he’s pointing out issues for the prosecution that, in general, aren’t unreasonable ones to call out. He’s framing those in legal terms as opposed to the MAGA histrionics about it being impossible to get a fair trial in New York. I don’t necessarily like him, but I like having the counterpoint in the discussion.

i know nobody will care. but for my own sanity, this helps me, when i get things off my chest. in 2000. i was 16 turning 17 at the end of the year and a junior in high school. i watched cnn every single day up to that point. hours of it as a teenager. i was a dork. i was a republican then and thought cnn gave me the best-unbiased news at the time. as an intelligent person. i already knew even as a hardcore conservative and republican at the time and lover of Reagan (being a lover of history) and bush. lover of law and order, respected the justice system. capitalism, free market, government stay out of my business, keep your hands off of my weapons, low taxes, dominant the oil industry, follow the constitution. back then and still to this day i have always been personally pro life, but politically even as a conservative i was pro choice, sorry for respecting my mom and grandma and sisters and all the women in my life, sorry if that offends you. and i will be honest and forthright again, equality, is not a political issue to me, never has been and never will be, equality is not up for discussion and not up for debate, i will always be 100 percent for equality. and i was despite those beliefs i thought republicans were what was best for the country. and i was 100 percent set on voting for george w. bush at the time if i would have been old enough to vote then. and i remember the day he won, how happy i was. but predating this a little, starting in 2000, i noticed a shift, of cnn going to more conservative news, i noticed a shift that while the democrats used to be crazy, clowns, who didn't know what the hell they were doing and unable to lead. while i was growing up in the late 80's and throughout the 90s, though clinton outside of his drama was a decent president during his run of what 93-2001. thats roughly the time when the battle between which party wanted to be crazy really started. but with each passing day i noticed the republicans were starting to become the clowns, fox was basically full on propaganda back then and went full on russia china north korea mode back when obama first became a legit contender to become president. the shift was obvious to me at the time. and fox when trump won just went off the deep end of all eternity. getting ahead of myself though. mccain was the republicans last hope. i wanted mccain to win so bad. to me he truly embodied what it meant to be a good man, to be a good american, to be a good leader and to be able to reach across to the other side and bring people together and do the right thing. i hated obama. i legit fucking hated him. i was like where did he come from, not literally like you clowns, but was like what does he know about government? what does he know about leading? what experience does he have? which looking back on was about 100000000000000000000000000x more than Trump. the irony. but i digress. but obama won.and i'm going to repeat this next part often. because it needs repeated often. republicans said obama would never be their president. but i loved my country. i accepted obama as my president. i wanted obama to succeed because i wanted my country to succeed. republicans went live. openly said they would never support obama or anything he wanted to do even if it meant sabotaging america. they said that out loud. that really, really, really, had one of the biggest effects ever on me in my entire life. i think the only thing that has ever effected my life more was my mom dying. when i heard these things being said about my country and my president. i don't think i could state that enough to anyone. when i started hearing on a daily basis. one side of our country saying out loud, and if you dont remember this, or if you cant own up to this, and want to be ignorant about this, about when this whole drama we have right now about two parties working against each other, instead of with each other for america started, then go to hell. burn. because seriously they said out loud obama isn't our president, out loud we must make obama fail. out loud saying even if it hurts this country we will sabotage any policy he tries to accomplish. out loud. we will not pass anything he wants to do. i dunno about you, but something clicked in my head that day. they openly said obama would never be their president and they would do everything in their power to make him fail, and ultimately my country fail. and so i will admit that it was a rough two years, but despite everything, life started to be pretty good, and i voted for obama over Romney and it wasnt because romney was that bad, i disagree with romney on several things but i don't think he would have been horrible, but obama turned out to be pretty good, and you can have your opinion on that, and even then that wasnt the kicker to me. i didnt care at the time that obama was decent or doing okay. the only thing i cared about was the shift. republicans had started to become the circus party. democrats were starting to become normal. because, the shift that had previously started had truly shown its true colors when obama won. republicans went crazy. democrats went normal. and the last 6 years of obama this country started to do great things, make great progress, but we still had a ways to go. if we followed on being true to the american spirit for everyone. anyways long story short, i noticed cnn turn conservative in 2000 and i was okay with it for awhile, but when the two leading parties switched roles and republicans went crazy and democrats went normal, cnn went with the republicans. and they are now officially a right wing media conservative program. fox shouldn't exist at all and i'm not saying that based on any freedom of speech right or whatever excuse you want to come up with about being straight lied to every single day about everything. i'm saying that because they are full gone just dead as anything resembling a credible news source. read the text and emails they dont want you to see. they are just an extension of maga and they have been that way since obama won. msnbc is liberal. and they don't do a good job at all because all they do is try to talk down to you like you're five, and dont realize that you're just trying to come here as one of the last sources that can tell you the truth from a normal perspective, good, bad or ugly, but they just sugar coat everything and have their own agendas so unless you're able to be honest without yourself and take what they say and then make a decision for yourself, which i am, but i don't know about the rest of the country, so if you can't do that, then they arent worth anything either, and cnn doesn't do a good job now they have started their fox journey because the more conservative you are now the more of a liar and hider of facts and truth you become, because thats just what happens when at a given time in our history, your party starts being run by lunatics. i could list them all out for you if you want. bunch of social media wannabes who have no clue on anything is the large, large portion of the "republican" party right now. and thats a fact. cnn has started down the slippery slope of repeating what fox became. and the only place to really get news now is independent news sources who have legit experts on who arent trying to tell you what you want to hear to fit your bias, but just their honesty opinion based on their actually experiences, and simply show you the data, show you whats being done, by who, for what reason, what its supposed to do, and in many instances now, show you the facts, show you the evidence, show you what the law says, show you what history says, and then gives you their opinion on whatever slant they have and then as an honest to god american, you come up with your own conclusion. trump has been a criminal for decades. its not that hard.he is not a republican, he is not a conservative. he is not presidential material. he is a criminal. he is a coward. he is a traitor. he is a conman. he is a grifter. he is liable for rape, convicted of defamation, had escape goats go to jail for him in countless extremely high valued lawsuits for fraud at all levels, across the board, business, tax, he has cheated and lied and destroyed the lives of everyone he comes in contact with, and i could go on and on but this really isn't what this is about. and i hate biden. lets not even get that twisted. and as soon as you denounce maga for what it is and pick a real republican , i will vote for them because their are actual credible repubulicans out thre right now and there are some up and coming democrats, but there is absolutely no other democrat who is ready to attempt to lead this country right now, unless somehow, someone can duplicate the miracle of obama with no experience being able to accomplish things the way he did and the way he represented this country the way he did, top notch. truly always how a president should be. i wish it was anyone but either of these two. but one really is a deranged pyscho and one is just an old man who has a stuttering problem and hate him as much as you want and disagree with him as much as you want and whether or not his decisions, policies, and whatever are right or wrong, good or bad, he loves this country and he has decades of experience, and if its between trump and biden and you have to even ask yourself twice then, yeah i know its sad, but its not a hard choice at all. so if you''re not educated enough to see trump for what he is. then you don't even deserve to call yourself an american. lets move forward as a country and have both parties just be normal at the same time. and do whats best for this country for once. for everyone. FOR EVERYONE. yes. say it with me. again i did this for me. so i can stay sane and normal despite the maga cult right now.

In the US, there is concern if a media outlet doesn't report on the details of an ongoing trial fairly. In the US, trials are public circuses. Elsewhere, they're serious and very unfunny.

Dear CNN, Elie Honig is using you to audition for someone. His analysis is wild. Talking like the judge is refusing to instruct the jury on what the crime is? He said how he's going to. It's any of the three crimes the prosecution submitted evidence that was committed. The notion that it HAS to be ONE SPECIFIC crime is the defense's nonsense position. Anyone who read the indictment or reads the judge's response to this can understand why it can be any of the three crimes posited, or ALL of them. Why are you putting on corrupt commentators? At least the bald guy doesn't deny he's a Trump surrogate.

In literally every trial ever the jury is told what the crime is and the elements required for that crime to have taken place. Yes, to be charged with a crime it has to be a specific crime. You can't just put someone on trial and tell the jury to figure out what the crime is.

@@justal8784 Falsifying business records becomes a felony when done in furtherance of another crime. I think the other crime is what they are talking about. There were in fact two other crimes: (1) Two corporations (AMI and Trump Organization) made expenditures in connection with Trump's presidential campaign by paying off three people to keep quiet (doorman, McDougal, Daniels). This is illegal under 52 US Code Section 30118 which prohibits corporations from contributing to federal election campaigns. Cohen went to prison previously for those campaign finance violations. (2) In New York it is illegal for two or more people to “conspire to promote or prevent the election of any person to a public office by unlawful means.” The unlawful means was item 1 above. Since Trump was on the ballot in NY (along with all the other states), and the payoffs happened in NY, it fits the state crime also.

@@justal8784 You don't understand the law being applied here. The crime being charged is the falsified documents. They've obviously been informed as to what that is. It is a felony if it is done to cover up any other crime. Those three other crimes that are being alleged to have been covered up by the falsified documents are not what he's being charged with. So the jury is being informed as to the charges, and the three crimes that would make those charges felonies. It can be any of them. What you are saying is a non sequitur, because you are conflating jury instructions on what crimes are being charged, and instructions on crimes not being charged that change the status of the crime being charged, which is a less common facet in the law.
