I tried to adopt a Husky about two years ago. Poor baby ended up biting my husband and tried to bite two more guys. I live close to a park with a ton of young people who walk by. I didn't want anyone to get hurt. I felt like an absolute failure of a human for having to take him back. I sobbed as I filled out the paperwork. I stayed in touch with the shelter and found out he was adopted to a single female home and is flourishing now. You're right, sometimes it's just not the right fit, and I can't beat myself up for it not working out. I still think of him often. Thank you for saying it. I ended up adopting a 10 week old GSD a couple weeks later. She was part of a court surrender with her brother and Mom. She is now best friends with my older rescue GSD.

It always depends on why a dog is returned. If it bites men, it likely has bad experiences and would have to go through lots of added stress for it to work out. It's much better just to ease the dog into getting to know men, without having one around 24/7.

Did you adopt the 3 in the family?.
Sophia's story got me in the heart. My current dog ended up in the shelter because he had terrible separation anxiety and couldn't adapt to his owner having to return to the office. They did try for months but he kept panicking, howling, destroying things, broke out a few times. It turned out I was the perfect adopter because I work from home--and then unexpectedly, my cat immediately became a momma cat to him. She grooms him all the time and cuddles with him. Because I had the freedom of my schedule, I was able to work on the separation anxiety gradually. It's been 18 months. I think he'll always be on the more velcro-dog side, but he can stay home alone, can stay with family/friends, and has become a great office buddy. Sometimes certain dogs do need certain environments.

There are so many elderly that would benefit from having access to animals. I'm beyond shocked that more retirement homes and elder care facilities don't partner with shelters to give both the humans and the animals the social contact they both desperately need.

Just came here to encourage people to take the shy ones home. When we adopted our dog she wouldn't move for weeks. We had to carry her outside, carry her around and even go out of the room so she were confident enough to eat and drink. It took months for her to crack the shell of trauma she experienced and what can I say, she's the most beautiful thing that ever came to our families life and the first two complicated years were absolutely worth the patience and work we put in to develop her confidence and feeling of safety. She's absolutely gorgeous and befriended lots of dogs around here which we never thought could ever happen. Sometimes I feel like all it needs is love and patience when it comes to the shy and frightened ones.

We adopted a larger poodle from the shelter. I think he had a mix in him. Going home Dusty sat between our seats looking all around. We kept his name. Did you lose him? Wondering since you are speaking in past tense.
I found this on the internet. While teeth chattering can be a sign of pain, seizures, or a neurological disorder, these are not the only causes. Sometimes, dogs will also chatter their teeth simply because they are feeling cold, nervous, or excited. Smelling strong scents can sometimes bring on this response in dogs as well. He might have been excited, my nephews dog does that everytime I go over and visit because he is so happy to see me.

I foster for Loved Again Pets here in Springfield Oregon. I recently fostered a dog who had a similar 'chomping' habit. Was told he had been doing that for years. When I felt the temporal-mandibular joint when he was 'chomping', I could feel it 'snap' like there was a misalignment or ligament issue. It also looked like his back molars were large and farther back than normal. He was a 15# poodle mix, so misalignment of jaws a possibility.
15:10 - Can we just take a minute to consider this poor lady who lost her husband, brother, AND son in the past year 😥😥- Hopefully Bucky will bring some light into her life that, I can only imagine, must be feeling so dark after her losses.

I love this channel but my heart aches everytime I watch. I recently lost my 19 year old cat Leo. I've had both cats and dogs over the years... loved them all...but Leo was different. Being a Maine Coon he was affectionate, beautiful and VERY smart. I could (and did) walk him regularly and he always stayed by my side...like a trained dog. He was my bed mate, constant companion and best friend. The grief I've experienced in losing him has been overwhelming. I am 68 years old and fear that another pet could outlive me (my health is good). I have thought that I may want to adopt another cat...perhaps an older one that needs a home. When my Puggy Girl died from a Vet's mistake with meds I couldn't leave our home for 5 days. Just couldn't open the door. She went with me everywhere - or I didn't go. A neighbor said to me when I finally had to go out alone, without my sweet girl, to get the mail, "Our KD is gone. I knew when you were alone she was gone." It's true. The community loved my sweet and joyful Pug. My beloved husband, Mother, Stepsister and Son in law [my daughter might have divorced but he was like my son] and my best friend and our 3 senior Dogs died within two years. Rescuing little KD Pug after my Husband , Mom and 3 senior Dogs died within 9 months of each other gave me a reason to get up in the morning. And she was there by my side when my best friend, stepsister and son in law passed too soon. KD Pug was so human in her behavior and a joy to take traveling. After KD died, I took care of other people's Dogs when needed but I couldn't, for the first time in my life, commit to adopting another dog. But three years later I met an abused small Chi with cancer, abandoned, and so scared of everything. My heart just woke up. Please adopt right away. First thing I did was get great Godparents for Bailey in case I died first. Also an insurance policy so they could give him everything he needed without their other Dogs sacrificing anything. I can't even remember anything from the 3 years between KD Pug dying and my adopting Bailey my little Chi. I understand how you are suffering. The love of a Dog and Cat is so comforting and loyal and unselfish and so naturally fun - a joy to be with. Please go find your Joy❤

I know why you have over 4 million subscribers. Because you make dogs and people very happy.
I just saw the video where Princess, the German Shepherd, has been adopted. Apparently, the man's Grandmother saw Princess's video and told her Grandson to go get that dog. I am praying for Princess to have a wonderful and long life. I had my German Shepherd, Lizz, for over 14 years, and I will love her forever.
As a child, I had a half malamute, half German Sheppard mix, and he slept outside during the winter in Colorado. I remember him sleeping curled up on the snow with a local wild (but very friendly) orange tomcat who visited us every couple of weeks. The wind was blowing flakes of snow over them and ruffling their fur as they both slept with their tails near their noses, and my dog curled around the cat. A treasured memory of my childhood.

Don’t believe the DNA tests! I have 3 large rescue dogs ( 1 purebred GSD). I have one mix I was curious about her genetics. I paid for 2 tests. 1 from Embark and 1 from Wisdom. Embark was fairly accurate- 56% Siberian and 44% GSD. Im pretty certain she has Akita ( many-people see Akita mix and wolf). I decided to do another test with Wisdom. Her results came back with 18 breeds. Her top 3 were chow, GSD & chihuahua 😂😂😂said she was only 5 % Siberian. She had cocker spaniel and dachshund. She definitely looks like a northern breed mix. What a waste of $$$$🤦♀️

Special thanks to Zachary for adopting Princess. Best of luck to both of you You deserve it.
He carried Carly down that aisle like a proud dad on his daughter's wedding day!
As someone who work with dogs for 30 years I have to say, you did pretty good job with Princess and I'm happy she found her new home. I cherrish everyone who takes care of animals, they deserve it. Good luck to all of you.
We adopted a dog and the meet and greet with our smaller gog went great. She was a medium size dog on the smaller size. After about 2 days of no problems between the two pups, she started playing extremely ruff with our sm dog. Going as far trying to pick up our pup by the head, not easily letting go and trying to toss her up in the air. This was the 5th dog we’ve adopted so I’m not new to this. We kept her for 1 1/2 weeks, but the situation was just getting more aggressive each day. We finally decided we had no choice but to return her. It was so hard and sad to return her, but for her sake I knew she needed a different home. I feel stupid but I actually cried. It took about a month but she found her forever home where she was the only pet and gets all the attention. So try not to be to hard on those of us that find ourselves in this horrible situation. When adopting a dog with no history it may take a few days to weeks to the dog’s personality to completely come out. Also, Zthe feeling you have of failing that dog are pretty strong, it’s never easy returning a shelter dog.

Absolutely not your fault and you did the right thing! You *tried* to make it work but when it became clear it wouldn't you made the hard decision to admit it wasn't the right match even if it hurt. These things happen all the time and it's horribly sad for everyone, but it's the responsible thing to do. You can't keep dogs in a situation where they're fighting and miserable.
@InGrindWeCrust2010

That is absolutely reasonable and responsible. From experience, most homes don't try nearly that hard before giving up. They won't do the basics such as time to decompress, crate train, exercise, and patience. It also means you took care of your existing pets. Sorry you had to go through that; not easy and we worry about the babies we couldn't add to our homes. 😔💚
Thanks... so much for what you all do. This small amount is perhaps for anything the shelter might need- soft blankets, toys, or treats. Good girl, Princess!! All my love for your future, I bet it's going to be super bright. Rocky- you're the best! And go Kobe aka Bucky and Buddy!!!

If you are lucky enough to own a great Pyrenees, cherish that. They are one of the best breeds. My heart broke for Chiquita, especially when she gave you her Pyr paw. She has been through so much and still had so much love to give.
Your channel is addictive … I love dogs and cats … had 2 different chow chows in my life and they were great … now I have a white persian cat with blue eyes named Sir Munchkin… keep up the good work … every time I see your channel you get 1 million more subscribers … I predict you will hit 100 millions subscribers in the next 12 months … great for you and all the dogs you are literally saving ❤
Princess has the SADDEST EYES I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!! SOOOOOOO HAPPY SHE HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!!
Had a male Malamute for 9 years; they are goofy !! But you could not ask for a more loyal lovable and gentle breed. People found it hard to believe how my Maruk was so loving, loved kids even the ones who climbed on him, he loved it. But please don't leave them alone long periods, they get so lonesome.

Every dog deserves a home, but not every home deserves a dog! It's so sad, dogs are better then some humans, more loyal then some humans. I just found your channel, keep doing what you doing! Greetings from the Netherlands 👋🏻

I love how enthusiastic you are about comforting the scared ones. It breaks my heart when we hear "owner known" and then they don't get fetched. If my lab gets out and some calls me, I'll drive across Africa to go fetch her. 😢

I have a Princess, her name is Katie, looks just like Princess.l found her in the pound all most starved . The best ❤dog love her very much.
I happened on this channel when Princess was in the highlight and found it hard to understand why she had been abandoned. It was easy to recognise that she was in stress, but was encouraged by the empathy you gave to her ❤️. Glad that she has a new home. Thank you and the team for sharing a side to a rescue centre, most of don’t experience.
Nancy I am so sorry about all your losses..
I am crying with joy that Princess has a forever home. Bless you all.
We adopted a black cocker spaniel/Irish setter fifteen years ago. Molly is an ancient blind-deaf crone now but I still love her after all this time.
This hour long video made me cry. Rocky is amazing for doing this. ❤❤❤
My friend’s dog does that “chomping “ all the time….her vet says it is a sign of contentment 🐶
I really love princess she seems so sweet. I adopted a german shepard a year ago that was very sick and only weighed 48lbs it took a long time to get her healthy. Now she is the most loveable goofball. I am now in love with german shepards. I will adopt more of them. Thanks Rocky for the stories and especially the updates.
If you wanna cry, this is the place to go. (Mainly happy tears) I miss my dog desperately but unfortunately I can no longer have one. Bless every one who takes the time and effort to save these dogs and give them a great home!
I drove 4 hours to get my baby girl from a rescue. I didn’t know that Firbo was a sponsor, that’s awesome! ❤
Freya got herself a loving family. THANK GOD for people like them who give the animals a new life.
I lost my shepherd in February and wish I could adopt them all. I lost Gitta three weeks after losing my dad to a very rapid and aggressive cancer. I couldn't handle adopting another shepherd just yet, so we adopted three sibling cats. Having animals is the best way to heal a grieving heart. Animals are so pure!

Just get a new dog. It's not like one replaces the other you'll just add something new. If you're a dog person and you have the time and resources to care for a dog just get one.
I believe the issue with Buddy is fly snapping syndrome. It can be caused by stress or anxiety which is common in the shelter environment. 11:18

Flybiting can also be caused by a reaction to flea and tick medication and is actually a form of seizure. It happened to our toy poodle. Once we switched to a different brand, the biting stopped. It was very scary, but thank god it was caught very quickly and she had no further problems. ❤️🐾❤️

Rocky, you are an angel! I am not a dog-owner and never will be, but watching you handle these wonderful creatures makes my heart melt. Your fresh, sparky and loving energy is heart-warming. You are not only healing dogs, you are melting frozen hearts. Thank you for your work!❤
Princess is an absolute darling, hope she is happy getting all the love she deserves.
Too many people who are first time dog owners, adopt a dog by it's 'looks'. It's pretty, it's handsome, etc. You MUST research a breed or in the case of mixed, multiple breeds, and see what the outstanding traits are. It's takes time, it takes work and it takes dedication to the dog. Please don't rush in. I love dogs, I love to see them go home with a responsible, loving owner. Thanks Rocky for all you do.

I am so happy to hear about Pruncess being adopted. I truly hope that everything goes well for her and her new family. She's going to be a much-loved member of the family. ❤
I did a dna test on one of my dogs and found someone who adopted from the same letter that I did. Because their dog came up as a brother to my dog. We're trying to find a time to meet to see what our dogs would do.😊

I won't go into how I know this, but if you cry around a scared dog, even a dog that's a stranger to you, it won't be afraid of you and it will actually try to cheer YOU up! Because that's how awesome dogs are! Feel free to add that to your tool belt, even if you only use it in extreme "hopeless" cases.

Poor baby, she deserves everything. Thank you all for this incredible service!
My girl Shepherd passed in May and I still cry for her everyday. I was 44 yrs old and she was my first dig as an adult that I was responsible for lol. She was 11 months old when she chose me for her person. She would have never survived in a shelter. She would either have been labeled aggressive and put down or would have been mentally damaged forever. Please never judge a GSD in a shelter, who acts out. This video is breaking my heart. My Zoe was the bestest, smartest good girl. Everyone who met her absolutely fell in love with her. She changed so many people who thought GSD were mean police dogs 🤦🏼♀️.She loved me so much and I her. I can't imagine what it would have done to her heart if she was taken from me and put in a shelter. My heart literally broke the night she passed. I haven't been the same since. Princess looks just like my Zoe 💜 I'm so glad she was adopted ❤

I tell my sister all the time how lucky she is with her husky. He doesn't bark, he doesn't yap. He's just quiet, mellow, and sweet with literally everyone. A one in a million husky. Princess is so sweet, and a beautiful GSD. Whoever ends up with her will be happy.
Thank you so much for showing Sonic's story. We lost our Alaskan malamute/husky mix in June, and Sonic looks so much like my Neeko. It broke my heart to see he was returned, because malamutes are the sweetest, funniest dogs and shelters are so hard on them. They love their space so I was so incredibly happy to see Sonic adopted by someone who knows what it takes to care for him! Congrats to Cynthia and Sonic!
Your sweet Great Pyrenees has been bred before as can be seen by her constant large and sagging teats. This poor doggo was being used in a byb situation. She is a beautiful dog and deserves a home that can give her loving exercise and attention!
i see myself as a cat person, but this is literally the best video i;ve ever seen, thank you so much (yes, i cried)

The story about Carly/Honey really made me emotional. I have fostered dogs in the past and was an foster failure with a Westie that acted just like Honey. It took her 6 months before she would interact with us. Then WOOHOO, she loved everyone! Thanks for doing what you are doing!
Love is love. I drove 10 hours to adopt my bonded pair from a rescue. Now we are a bonded triple ❣️
I have two husky mixes from the shelter and I laughed when you said the husky was doing what they do. Mine sit there and have full on conversations with each other lying on the sofa mouthing each others face for hours.
We've adopted 8 German Shepherd Dogs over the last 20 years. None of them did well in animal shelters - they shut down, refused to eat, and shed constantly. It seems very important to quickly place them in foster homes. They took a few days to open up once they came home, and about six weeks to show their full personalities, and it was absolutely worth the wait. We adopted a 10-year-old GSD in 2021 that had been dumped on a highway. Though we only got to enjoy one year with him, it was an incredible year - every day was full of love, trust, and adorable antics. Senior dogs bring their own special energy to your home. They've been abandoned after years of loyalty and service, and they deserve to spend their final months in comfort.
