....many, many, MANY People covered this Song...but this....this... GODSEND of an arrangement, makes Natalie's version the DEFINITIVE version! ...I played it 8 times (in a row), when I bought "Still Unforgettable", & the melancholy trumpet solo is DIVINE.... (3:27) ...Natalie earned her final Grammys for the arrangement of this tune, & the "SU" Album....

One of the best renditions I ever heard! I always admired her great vocal style but she knocked this one out the park! 🙂❤️👌

A beautiful yet very sophisticated arrangement, amazing trumpet solo, and of course superb vocals. Natalie, gone (too soon) but not forgotten.

When I hear this song I think of the faces that people bravely present even after their entire world has crumbled. The song is devastatingly beautiful, and becomes even more poignant with the memory of Natalie Cole factored in.

The most eloquent, melodic version of this Gorgeous song. Natalie Cole was an astounding vocalist-a Voice that is most likely not be heard again, with the exception of Barbra Streisand and the immensely talented Whitney Houston! ❤️

You too? How we looked forward to her next album of standards. How could we know this album, Still Unforgettable would be her last? So happy it won Nan Schwartz a Grammy for what Natalie called "your divine arrangement" of HERE'S THAT RAINY DAY.

Nan Schwartz won a Grammy for what Natalie herself called "your divine arrangement" of HERE'S THAT RAINY DAY. Most beautiful video presentation at KZread -- this one. Still gives me goosebumps. You too? Celebrated elsewhere this day [search] " Great Melody, Great Lyric, Great Rendition, Songwriting Workshop, Harmony Central "

Aioria Andrei. this is one of the greatest arranged stringed piece that I heard. I Would love to find out who the orchestrator was. This is like a floor made of beautiful music strings and trumpets laid out for her to just glide over it. I absolutely will buy the album. Thank you. By Carlos Araujo.

Natalie does this nicely, but for my money, no one has ever topped Tony Bennett from '74, with Robert Farnon arranging & conducting. He did it so softly--so sad--with the sense of loss this masterpiece needs. That said, well done, Natalie & Alan ! Wolfsky9, 67 y/o

@@nanschwartz1004 Agreed with your every word, Wolfsky. I thought this arrangement was by Alan Broadbent, who did a bunch of them on the "Still Unforgettable" album (Natalie's last). But Nan won a Grammy for this one. And she also arranged "Lollypops and Roses" (I believe). Memory imperfect.

No problem, Paul! I am so flattered that you appreciate my work. Really, you made my day. It takes someone with very refined musical sensibilities to be able to separate the singer from the chart, and value it on its own. (I was fortunate to win a Grammy Award for it in 2009)

Nan, it seems that we share a similar back story...my mother, Helen O'Brien was a singer with Tommy Dorsey and my dad, Chris Griffin was a trumpet player in the studios of New York...also with Benny Goodman (Harry James, Ziggy Elman & Chris Griffin. As a young lad, it was heaven for me to stand in the middle of a ten piece brass section during rehearsals with Sinatra, or Ella...I coined a phrase with which I'm sure you will agree: "A picture paints a thousand words while music expresses that for which there are no words."
