So he deposit the check payable to BOA instead of his own name. Did Wells Fargo issue the wrong cashier’s check?

Your title was pure click bait! You told me nothing, NOTHING about how to protect my money. What a waste of time this was.

Mistake 1 making the check payable to the BoA rather to himself. Could have it payable to cash, though less safe. Mistake 2, not putting For Deposit Only and his account number on back of check

B of A could never keep my account balanced over 47 years ago, twice, so I took my money out and transferred to another bank. Best decision I ever made in banking.

Credit Unions are the way to go folks! They do EVERYTHING a bank does, except they actually care about the customer! They often give even MORE benefits, seriously, it will only change your life for the better!

Nope! Wright Patt here in Ohio manager (Elizabeth in Beavercreek) stated that they follow same federal laws. If you’re one day late on car payment, they can take over any other account and seize it, including checking or savings. Happened to me. The banking laws have changed, they don’t have to insure your money like before, and once you deposit, it becomes their money. Credit unions follow these same banking laws! The ONLY safe place for your money is in your hands. These are businesses, in it for profit, no matter how they dress it up.

That is why the BofA "lost" his money. Check should have been payable to "CASH" or himself.

So, was the $33,000 debited from his Wells Fargo account, but not credited to his Bank of America account? If the money remained undisturbed in his Wells Fargo account, then why not simply put a stop payment on the check. However, if the money vanished from his Wells Fargo account, but never appeared in his Bank of America account, then that sure sounds like fraud to me.
