Iceland a favourite of mine. Conquered Japan once and moved the capital there, as well converted the whole island to Icelandic.

@@theicelandicnationalist2.023 To make viking samurai and get a bigger volcanic island, of course. To get there I moved the capital to Bermuda, colonised all of North America, used the manpower there to invade, then move to my new island.

so while checking out the espionage ideas, i noticed the rebel support efficiency it gave. Looking up what increases it, as dithmarschen having completed a certain mission, you can max out rebel support at +155%, without the mission its +125%. Even with that, *any* rebels you support will gain a +22.5% uprising chance per month, and once they rise up they count as allied troops, you can declare a war to support them/enforce their demands, but most importantly, vassalisation is still permitted for any belligerents. I think it could be a very interesting playthrough to go on a mental anarchist rampage to destroy any nations with massive rebel hordes, id recommend checking it out

As an icelandic person i can confirm that we have historical ties to the entire caribbean

i could have sworn that you simply have to have more development in the new world than the old world to move continents.

yeah it changed a lot over the years, last iteration im aware of is that you need to have a single *stated* province in the old world if you want to put your capital in a colonial region, and it has to be isolated, so no neighboring territories-bermuda, greenland and i believe falklands and the galapagos are part of america, but not a colonial region. I believe, don't quote me on that.

Bermuda only works if you have no provinces in North America, it's good for moving to South America

As someone who is from Northen Europe, hearing Laith pronounce Norwegian words is like listening to nails on a chalkboard

Should have just gone expansion ideas first, since you can already explore and you need the range from diplo tech 7 to reach America anyway and you get there faster without having to spend dip on ideas

You can only move your capital to a different continent from Bermuda/Falklands/etc. So from Bermuda you can only move your capital to South America, and from Falklands you can move to North America.

my playthru where im doing custom nation Carthage Scotland beat England... they have all of Ireland & half of England right now.. both with equal size armies but Scotland allied to France still.

remember if you form a colonial nation via choice as an old world nation you inherit all colonial nation lands for 0 cost so if you want to really min max this you should make a CN in each colonial region but the one you're planning on moving your capital to I did it before as Iceland > Vermont and inherited tons of land

A couple things I like about this strategy: If Iceland’s capital is in a colonial region, then the player can fabricate claims on colonial nations and take them over with little effort. The colonial overlord does not get called in. I have found though that the ai sometimes enforces peace on exodus countries or native kingdoms controlled by the player. Once Aragon ruled most of Spain and I had to sign a quick peace with its colony before getting enforced peace, and I couldn’t fight Aragon itself. For the most part though, the colonial overlords don’t defend the colony until later in the game. The big problem then, is just dealing with separatism from colonists. It’s debatable that you should focus on quantity and humanist if your capital is in the new world to constantly put down rebels. Since you are in the new world and not colonial nation subjects, the native federations are much less likely to attack your country which has a large army. Normally they ally and dodge truce timers by continually waging war on your colonial nations. This drags the player in so you have to fight all of North America with your subjects having 20 war exhaustion for 100 years. A major concern is well-funded colonial powers like France declaring on you. The only solution is to get an adjacent colony completed of a European power and ally them. Since your capital is in the new world and you’re not in the HRE, they can attack you whereas normally they wouldn’t. Since federations sprawl in this patch, if you were playing a normal colonial game you would have to conquer provinces rather than colonizing. Skip expansion ideas and just fabricate on opms, then let your CNs do the coring.

15:55 i dunno if you can fight an allies colonial nation but what i find annoying is when i had a pu over england, other nations can just attack englands colonial nation and i cant do anything about it.. and im not talking native americans.. they got invaded by another nation.. i think norway or something - also its annoying now the game seems to make natives spread & expand far too much.. in the old days it was not enough so it was boring to play them as a player but now its too. much.. one native tribe took half of north america on one playthru i did.. they also attack ur colonial nations far too often like when theyve barely started so they have like 2k troops and the natives have 20k.... and theres nothing i can do about it cos i can tget claims to declare on them its stupid...

For colonialism there's an hidden requirement that the province that it'll spawn shouldn't be an island, Mainland of British isles doesn't count.

Having colonists with Iceland is a total and utter joke. You can't fund multiple colonies or maybe you might go bankrupt funding one. You would be better off just being Portugal or a real colonizer not Iceland.
