Description:
Well... we did it. I finally completed trade Tuesday season 2 by trading from a low-end Glarry Acoustic Guitar to a limited edition Custom Shop '58 Reissue Stratocaster. I find it funny, because season 1 ended with a '58 Reissue Les Paul and I didn't plan for that to happen this time! I hope this inspires you to give trading a try to get to your dream instrument!

    @Mailroom Clerk Are you feeling a little salty because nobody on Reverb has ever fallen for one of your grifts? I've just done a quick search on Ebay and found a couple of LTD EC-256es going for BIN prices of $250 or less. Meanwhile, brand new Glenn Tipton pickups are selling at $199 from Musician's Friend. This might all be BS, as you claim. But, just how confident are you that Trogly didn't offer these pickups for trade on a forum where Judas Priest is held in higher esteem than an almost entry-level Les Paul copy from LTD?

    He has got to have some pity trades in there somewhere. Being a channel and all knowing people in the trade. But then again I know I watch locally. I'm waiting for that old lady that has no idea that the guitar her husband had in the closet was not just a fender guitar, but an old simple strat that sat in a case since the 60s. I know they're out there. Hahaha. Just one US strat God, Please ! And yes I'll give a 100 for the 50 bucks asking. Hahahahahaha

    @@robertclarkguitar Yeah, he needs to get a White Board just to keep track of it all. About finding a vintage guitar. 10 or so years ago, locally where I live (Northern Michigan) a friend of a co-worker purchased a beat up red Stratocaster at a garage sale for $80. He took it to Elderly Music in Lansing and found out it was an all original 1960 Stratocaster. Elderly's Music bought it from him for something like $20K plus a guitar they had in the store. Those kinds of guitars are still out there just waiting to be discovered. Many of us thought he should have shared his good fortune with the lady who sold it to him, he did not though. I won't judge his decision, I only know what I would have done. I would have kept that 1960 Stratocaster and left it at that!

    @@hkguitar1984 I would have probably kept it as well. Unless a buyer showed the cash. I am very much the same. @@robertclarkguitar Glad we're on the same page about good fortune and sharing. Side note about vintage guitars. I've seen many, many, many vintage instruments. What amazes me most about them are the wear patterns and all the crazy strange nicks and dings many have, if only they could tell their story. That would be a good idea for a TV Program! Find something like a vintage guitar or car and try to tell it's complete story from the day it was built to present.

    I think the more salient privilege is never being put in a position where the financial resources shouldn’t be allocated elsewhere in one’s life. Much more financial independence and the whole endeavor is kinda pointless, much less and you’d end up buying tires or something instead. A massive fan base of engaged enthusiasts certainly doesn’t hurt, but it didn’t seem like he took any outright advantage of them, or realized a deal any other person couldn’t have achieved with enough time and spare gear. But the reason everyone isn’t doing it is realistically it’s not a very practical way of buying an instrument. It’s more just an interesting challenge for someone who can and wants to. After all, the original “I traded a red paperclip for a house” only had Craigslist-no fan base or KZread.

  • @MrDream-zm1pw

    @MrDream-zm1pw

    Жыл бұрын

    @@silverXnoise I think he did take advantage though. If you recall, in trade tuesday S1, he traded a cheapish vintage Kent Bass for a Schecter Synester Gates guitar. This was before inflation and those basses were maybe in the 100-$150 tops range on a good day while the Schecter is worth at least double I realize the kid was happy with the trade but maybe something else could've been thrown in to sweeten the deal. Also, Id like to add the the youtube presence certainly helped him. I remember it there is this famous youtuber who turned a coin or a toy into a house and his online presence made this possible. Trading up are definitely possible though! I Traded a 2020 Fender Player Jag that I bought for $450 for a 2006 American Deluxe Strat in Honey Blonde plus $150 on my end this week. Came with a case and in mint condish too. EDIT: Holy crap seeing these prices from back then is crazy!

That's a huge part of your ability to make the trades and the sales and make the transition from shit to shine! @DizzySuspect how many times have you traded something? Because Austin does deals FOR A LIVING. The guy spends basically his whole day doing this stuff. He's got years and years of experience. Not only you're COMPLETELY ignoring ANY experience needed for this kind of thing, but you're blaming it on his FANBASE. Something the guy earned for having a KZread Channel for YEARS + posting like FUCKING CRAZY (Daily. not Weekly. DAILY) ps: I don't have a fanbase, and yet I've already traded a pair of Seymour Duncans + some money on a 250W Hughes & Kettner Bass Amp. And the guy was SUPER happy about it.

    I have an EC-10 i bought from a flea market for 20 bucks. The volume pot was shot, but that obviously was an easy fix. I freaking love how it sounds honestly, best 20 bucks of my life

    Got 2 58 reissue in my cheap squire with the gotoh style floyd.And a JB in bridge HSS.Some paint and will be sweet.I love the way they feel and play for a cheap 169$,Just swapped pickups and that was it.NEVER goes out of tune EVER.20 years old so it is naturally relic.My favorite guitar.

    I do very similar trading. Usually I don’t have a outcome goal. I just keep it going until I get really good stuff. Then that thread ends and I begin a new journey. Buy or trade for something cheap and raise the stakes every time until the conclusion. Great channel and great video ! Do some more musical equipment bartering videos please

    Agustín Vidal well I guess I’m a genius then. This is my everyday all day with musical equipment. Then I drive a semi truck 11 hours a day on the phone and Craigslist making moves taking small money items and trading up for very expensive nice things. It takes time but the out come is awesome.

    Agustín Vidal thanks kind sir. I traded a korean made Epiphone galaxy 25 tube amp , a rode nt-2 large condenser microphone , and a Washburn Oscar Schmidt delta king semi hollow body (es-335) style guitar (About three hundred dollars used value) for a 1998 Isuzu hombre pickup truck

    Patience is a virtue. This is exactly what I do but I started with antique sewing machines. I made enough to purchase every guitar I have, over time, of course. I'm slowly getting a feel for the guitar market but doing okay.

    All those late 90s 58 reissues had that same birds eye flame maple necks. Funny thing. Billie Joe Armstrong had two of these in the late 90s as his e tuned guitar and its backup. Both were blue replicas of his blue Fernandes rst 80 57. With a Duncan jb in the bridge position. One of them had a lefty bridge like an S.R.V. strat.
