problem with the Spit 22 and 24 is they don't feel like spitfires at all... Heavy ass, lose a lot of speed in flat turn... Honestly I'd rather have a Mk.IXc there instead of the 24

@@program4215 exactly. Snail is not decompressing BRs, they just move compression down. They don’t solve major problems, they just sweep it under the rug. Trees are not balanced properly and one nation is constantly stomping others? They presented mixed teams to make the problem less noticeable.

I dunno, I've generally had a pretty good time using the Mk24 in recent times. The engine power is brilliant on WEP, giving you a climb speed roughly equivalent to the LF Mk9, a 500kph speed in level flight, but shines the most when diving on enemies since you can easily reach and hold 850kph chasing after a jet. The agility is phenomenal still, still giving you the advantage in turn fights against most prop planes in the rare downtier, and using WEP _really_ helps retain speed while turning. I usually bring 30min of fuel because lead-footing the throttle is what really brings the performance up with this, and the Griffon absolutely CHUGS fuel for a prop engine, so it's kinda necessary. And if nothing else, the 4×20mm guns makes sure that you're outgunned by very few enemies. I generally like to climb to 4000/5000m altitude and try to either slap enemies in head-ons in equal altitude or jump on jets lower than me by diving since you can relatively maintain a speed faster than early jets if you really try to just absolutely yeet the airframe in a dive.

I don't know about the rest of this but I freaking HATE vanilla 20mm hispanos. Like the Swedish belt is fine, but for some reason, British belt hispanos never worked for me.

@@Mackerel1313 I've just stuck with the air belts and spray them with fairly liberal use of the trigger. The HE works good, but the SAPHE is normally what kills it for the guns, since they do less damage and require more dense airframes to detonate. However, since you're fighting jets, you get some fairly large sections of the plane that are perfect for SAPHE, like engines in the wings or central fuselage, or large and easy to hit fuel tanks. If you don't gack them on the first pass, you've usually crippled them enough to easily kill them with the second.

I’m mixed on these br changes tbh I’m mostly happy that I don’t have to fight mig21s, f100s, f104s, and other supersonic aircraft in my Sabre or mig 15

The problem will persist, Gaijin only downtiered the compression problem. Now, the Spit Mk 24 and other 7.3s, 7.0s and 7.7s will suffer like you did on the Mig15 vs 9.7.

From the protection analysis it shows that the Soviet 20mm FI-T rounds weighing 96g with 6.36g TNT equivalent deals more direct hit damage than the Hispano HEFI shell weighing 130g with 9.28g TNT equivalent. The Hispano shells deal damage in a wider area but because you can't fly with a missing wing or tail, the Soviet 20mm shell is more likely to kill a plane when it connects. Doesn't help that 1/2 or 1/3 of Hispano rounds are the practically useless SAPI shells, which just explode into confetti on impact, instead of penetrating armor or engine blocks. The damage from guns and the damage model just makes very little sense in WT because Gaijin can't figure out how a 20mm Incendiary round would take out a plane just as easy as a 20mm explosive, if not better.

@@sparkling925 No, I'm talking about the 20mm Incendiary of the M24A1 cannons. M23 just turns into the smallest explosion on impact, dealing almost no damage while having little chance to even hit fuel tanks. Incendiary effect is very badly modeled, since a penetrating round just keeps the same incendiary properties like some RPG weapon that deals fire damage. When in reality incendiary effect should have a range based on the specific bullet type. In WT 12.7mm API can penetrate the entire wing of a bomber and hit the engine, setting them on fire, even though in RL the incendiary effect should only affect the impact zone, and the range depends how fast the bullet travels.

Seriously, out of all the types of players I've fought in this game, somehow the 51H players manage to be one of the top of the list in terms of just how absolutely frustrating they are in general gameplay. Whether it's 3 bastards tag-teaming you when you're playing a crappy Soviet plane, running away like a yellow-bellied coward at even the slightest threat, or just generally playing like an absolute rat, there are many ways those players have managed to legitimately piss me off.

I can't even count the number of times someone in a Bf 109, Fw 190, or Do 335 has tried to dogfight me while I was flying a VASTLY better turning aircraft. Or the instances where a German plane stuck the head-on a little too fiercely and got walloped by a storm of 20mm.

Even the F104 suffers from compression. Downtiers are fantastic while uptiers are missile mayhem. Moving the F104 either direction would cause problems meaning it’s weirdly enough balanced.

There is something unholy and disturbing about a spitfire without paint.

MEC. You have to set the buttons to do it but you can find it in the controls if you look under full real. As for the benefits of supercharger gears? Higher gears are for higher alts. The alt you change gears changes on a by plane basis.

Damn, this was pretty painful. Seems like I'm sticking to the plan and stopping my England career at the Mk XIVe. Maybe I'll do a Sea Fire.

At the same time that is overtiered, if you put it at 6.7, it will be able to bully 5.7 at the occasional downtiers, so for gameplay balance maybe is good that is 7.0.

@@rainsilent I have dogfights on 6 km very frequently on 5.7. Anyway, both are fantastic planes and it’s good that we can switch from one to another to have some variety. I don’t see griffons very much so I hope that they won’t move Mk 14 any higher in terms of BR. Same can’t be said about LF Mk IX, I will not be surprised if they move it to 6.0 (pretty much a beginning of shitfest BR bracket). It’s very potent, it’s very popular and snail just kinda likes to shit on British tree from time to time.

Was wild to see barely anyone actually discussing br compression around the update plans Just add 2 or 3 br higher and do it properly, theres so much potential for better gameplay Sim getting totally ignored again, incl in this planned change I just got the japanese sabre w 9Bs - sim bracket changed and was lowest entry into 9.3-10.3 Nothing i could do against any enemy - but managed to sling both aams out and catch 2 kfir canards in as many minutes

Honestly the fact that Gaijin gave it that high of a battle rating and not even the MK V Hispanos as an upgrade on the modifications says alot about how much they care about Prop balancing.

That Hit_To_Win dude plays extremely safe and scummy, very much a stat paddler.

Dropping prop pitch to around 80% will allow you to perma WEP without overheating on most maps while still having/using most of your WEP power.

as a spit 24 player with over 3000 air rb kills and only 700 deaths with it, i think its an alright plane. Honestly enjoy playing it vs jets (actually prefer vs jets with the spit 24 than vs props). Never hang at low alt, I always climb then I dive on jet that dont suspect you coming (with the spit 24 i usually dive up to 860km/h IAS without snapping wings or even locking up, and you can keep up with most jets at the BR it's set at), essentially just boom and zoom which is a good old classic technique Also i rarely over heat using MEC, I can use constant WEP for like 10 mins without any issues Spit 24 is a good plane if you play it correctly, but most players don't and then they start talking shit about it and how bad it is :((

lol so the first jet ever can now see the ___ insert number of jets that are going to be at 8.0

With the Sabres and Migs moving down, player performance statistics in early jets at 7.0 and 7.3 will drop, prompting cascade BR reductions that will first ripple into high-tier props, and top tier will finally have succeeded in spreading its corruption throughout the entire game, rendering it unplayable.

all we can hope is that these changes put the spitfire mk24 at 6.7 where it belongs.

Because everything 5.7 and below (sans maybe the Yak-3U and VK-107) doesn't stand a hope in hell of doing anything to a MK.24 unless the Mk.24 royally fs up. The 51H has limited WEP. The Mk.24 has similar cracked climb/accel, better turn while being some 50ish MPH slower in level flight below 6km when the 51H is using WEP and the Mk.24 can do this for as long as it has fuel. Compare the 109K (a solid 5.7) to the Mk.24. The Mk.24 has about a 5m/s climb rate advantage, will turn circles around the 109K and will fairly effortlessly outrun the 109K.

Below 2.5km it is actually fairly close and the pilot will be the difference maker. Above 3km the Mk.24 dominates. The loss of WEP above 3km takes away 300hp from the Yak-3U and that difference is noticeable in a fight. 3U has the speed to disengage in level flight at will 5km and below if the Mk.24 can't dive from space. The 3U needs to go to 6.3.
