The animation during this song is one of my favs in Diz history. The pace of the song matches the doubt, denial, anxiety, and then calm of coming to terms that you "like" like someone, XD.

Can we just give a huge hat's off to Susan Egan right now?!?! Singing here, 'Lady and the Tramp 2', 'Beauty and the Beast' on Broadway (my sister has the soundtrack and 'Home' is absolutely beautiful and depressing!), and of COURSE just being plain awesome in the old Disney Channel Original Movie 'Gotta Kick It Up'!

How'd that go?

The thing I find most interesting about this song is the dramatic irony of us, the listeners, having access to the commentary lyrics of the muses. Meg, residing within the story, can _feel_ their influence on her thoughts, but would perceive the entire song as a conflict within her own mind, if indeed she could fully articulate the muses' portion of the lyrics at all. It's pretty common that a musical implies the character is singing ideas differently than they are thinking them, but significantly less common that the content and origin of a character's thoughts are significantly different than what the character would subjectively believe them to be.

don't do it, Meg! We all know what happens to Hercule's wife and kids in the mythology. xD

Sadly, it's true but not exactly his fault. Hera caused Hercules to go mad and he didn't realize he killed her and their kids until someone told him what he did :( I feel bad for him

Fun Fact: Hercules is his Roman name, Heracles is his Greek name and since the rest of the gods and goddesses in the movie went by their Greek names (as Heracles is Zeus’s son and Hercules being his Roman counterpart would be Jupiter’s son.) Same gods technically but wrong name. So Disney got this wrong since they put his Roman counterpart with his Greek father. Also, he was a demigod, because Zeus/Jupiter was his father and his mother was a mortal.

Meg had to have been one of the more complex Disney women characters before the 2000s (besides for Mulan). Originally the trickster portraying a damsel in love, yet has her own aims, only to become really in love and an actual damsel lol. I mean, I still love her character overall, she has a unique drawn design too (the eyes of course).

I wish Hades had gotten a song. :C

I’m just so mad that they didn’t make Meg a Disney princess. My definition of a Disney princess is “a girl with a nice dress, great intentions, and a great singing voice.”

Just watched Hercules again. Forgot about this song, it's a great one to hear again. Always thought the definition of a true hero is self sacrifice as depicted in this movie.

So this is where my love for gospel chord changes and greek mythology originated.

this is one of the reasons why this movie Aladdin and half the other disney movies of the 90's got their own series ......they were just so awesome from the story to the song's I just wish the Herc series just like they did a Epilogue episode for the movie they'd done one that showed us exactly how poor Meg got into her situation in detail because we all know it wasn't Adonis
