Surely you could use this standalone. All you'd need is one of those wall plugs which has a USB connector on it and you'd be good to go, unless it won't operate without being connected to software.

seems the rmx has better connection. Like xlr for microphone and for outputs.

would it be better to get this or the numark mixtrack pro

@tdralle115 I don´t know if the VDJ 7 LE has the key lock, but the PRO version has a locker icon on the right side of the pitch control. just click on it to activate

GREAT VIDEO amazing detailed info, exactly what I was looking for, Only question is, I'm basically sold on the 4-MX but one thing i really wish/hope is on this and I'm just not seeing it is like on the Numark pro Is it has a keylock for speed changing without losing the key the song is on, is there a feature for that in VDJ 7 pro? @RealDJblaze oh because i have the american audio vms4, but sound quality is poor for bigger events, and i have a 150 dollar mixer that sounds louder and better. So i'm looking to get something better.

can i map buttons like the jog wheel or some knobs to do exactly what i want , - i want the jog wheels to be a search (seek position) button and my pause button to be a play button .. or even my tempo fader to be a volume fader.... can i do these unusual changes with the virtual dj program ?...

Hey man listen I just installed the thing but only half of the mixer works on me and the other two sides where the jogs go don't work what do I do ? All I have it hooked up to is just the USB?

@RealDJblaze well the sound quality is good for a small gig, but for bigger events, it's not. I've heard that the denon mc 6000 has better sound quality but of course it's double the price of the vms4. But i will probably buy it

@MrROFLMAO921 i'll assume you're not asking for an intro song, and you need more of a stripped down beat to practice on, just google DJ tools or DJ tool tracks, you will find a lot of tools on beatport as well

Im thinking of getting this to run a laptop and my numark DDS. If i decide not to use a laptop can it be powered off the usb ports on the numark dds or will it not work because its not a laptop.

hello, tnx for this fine review! have you tried hooking a microphone with it? Does it work out of the box with the normal USB cable or do i need a powered USB hub?

Works with a normal USB cable connected to your computer. The Microphone works good on this.

uh that would be trully great specially it has a talk-over function build in hardware so it's not dependable on the software u using! comparing to my numarkns7 II that cost almost 10 times over and do't have even a preamp ;)

Mine just arrived today & it's a big disappointment. When installing the drivers, the software opens another installation window, which makes it impossible for the drivers to be installed. how did you get the drivers to install correctly? I've been at it for hours, uninstalling, reinstalling the drivers from the Hercules site, uninstalling & reinstalling while holding down the mic on/off button & the drivers still won't load properly. Big diasappointment.

Not sure what's happening to you there. Sounds like you are using a trial version of some software, but you should be using the free software this comes with...

lol, 'bedroom djs' .. haha .. I bought this one next to my pioneer dual cdj900s and djm800 setup, to take with me when im asked to perform on party's etc ;) I love this device, but I háte VirtualDJ. VDJ LE is very limited, so I upgraded to VDJ 7, only to find out that this piece of software does not work properly with this device on W7 Ultimate X64. VDJ didn't want to refund me the money, so I sold it on ebay (for a lot less :( ) and bought Traktor Pro 2 instead. Works WAY better ! Nice Review !

That's a toss up... Maybe the Numark N4 as well... The 4 MX has the best build quality, but all other features seem similar enough. Hercules has small jog wheels though...
