My father worked for (The real) Sears. The record department was adjacent to the TV and Stereo department. Every time a. New album came out he’d bring it home. This music is the soundtrack of my childhood.

The most favorite memory of my mother was when my mother, my sisters, and myself were dancing to this song back in the summer of 79. For the first five years of my life my mother was a drug addict, and she had a bad overdose that year. The county almost took us away from her, and the only way she could get us back was if she got clean. She came home, and we turned on the radio...She heard this song, grabbed us, and started dancing. That was the happiest I ever saw her, and there were few times she was happy, but she was so glad to be with us. My mother stayed clean for us, and she never used again. But this song will always be special

Back in 1980 I put on this song for my 85-year old grandmother, who was raised on a farm in Czechoslovakia. Didn't speak much English, and never listened to music. When the intro started, she perked up and proclaimed, "It makes me want to dance." So, we did! Thanks, Mr. Alpert.

Awesome story. Reminds me of my own marriage. Life is complex and there's often a lot of unnecessary pain, but if your dad was anything like me, he accomplished his mission. He managed to imprint onto you a special part of himself that lives on in your heart beyond the LP or anything physical. Now it's time for you to pass it down to your children.

Whipped cream and other delights was one of the first LPs bought with my own money when it came out. I was 16, my mom didn't like the cover.

So many artists sampled this classic. My dad would listen to my rap then show me where they get their beats from. God I miss this cool times. RIP DAD love and miss you. 😢

My brother is is a generation Z- the music he listens to today is damaging my ears.

Years ago, I met an electrician who had done work for Herb at his home in Los Angeles. He said that you'd never meet a nicer guy in the world: just a humble, regular guy who treated everyone the same. Without knowing Herb, I'm just not surprised.

This song takes me back in time and it still sounds fantastic here in 2023!! Great trumpet, piano and smokin’ hot bass playing!!!

I first heard this song when I was a young teenager and am now 67 and love it as much now as I did when I first heard it. A timeless piece, that knows no borders, still groovin' to the music here in Canada 🇨🇦!

This instrumental encapsulates my time growing up in the 70s...it touches my soul with a ghostly haunt whenever I hear it..What an Era!... 70s was the BEST!!!

Herb is the only artist in the rock era who managed to reach # 1 with both a vocal & an instrumental-Quite an accomplishment!

This song has been living in my head rent free for over a week now. It allows me to reflect on the past and be hopeful for the future...

This was a song that my mom Loved! She had an Aneurysm rupture in her brain in 1979 I was 14. It took months for me to be able to listen to this song. By the grace of god she survived for another 33 yrs. Paralyzed and limited communication. I sure do miss her she would dance and was out familia's best cook! I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU MOM YESTERDAY TODAY AND TOMORROW

Condolences to you and prayers

My father is dying of stage 4 lung cancer. Since I was a child he and my mother loved this song! Now I'm 48 and we still just yesterday got an opportunity to kick back and listen to our song!!! 💕💕💕

Great memory from my father!

This song is a part of what also makes classic Hip-Hop music so great. Had it not been for Hypnotize by the Notorious BIG containing a sample of this song I probably never would've found this amazing piece of work.

My dad owned a restaurant in Tulsa Oklahoma in the sixties and seventies and had this on his jukebox. This song has been in my head ever since. Love it!

Song takes me back to car rides over the 59th st bridge nyc at sunset with my mother as a girl. Queens to Manhattan then back -- priceless!

I knew a guy who worked at an AM radio station, WLKK AM 1400, here in Erie, Pennsylvania. I worked as a producer during the same time as a weekend producer. This wonderful tune was selected to be his intro music when he came on the air at 6 am every morning. At 6 bells, I would hear NBC chimes, NBC radio news, then the air would be filled with this song and it was epic. It left a lasting memory from a time when I was involved with a great radio station and the people who worked within it.

I love how Notorious Big sampled this track on the song Hypnotize.

My dad danced on this on my 6th birthday so happily that I still can see him being 37

I remember being 9 years old when this came out. My whole family thought I was strange for listening to jazz. Thankfully everyone just let me be me. 43 years later I still love jazz and especially this song. Classics will always stand the test of time.

I first heard this on a jazz station in the early 2000s. Didn't realize this created in the late 70s. One of my personal favorites. I listen to this everyday.

The irony. A few years ago Herb Albert read that they had closed down a school of music in Harlem due to financial problems. Herb Albert donated 500k to the school. And they were able to reopen!

Heard this for the first time the summer just before my parents got divorced, I remember this song making me happy, walkmans had just come out, since things were never the same after that summer I remember the song very fondly, hard to explain. Good times before all went to shit

This song used to be played on an all black radio station called WDAO Dayton in the promo as bumper music as a kid and stayed in rotation. I instantly fell in love with it and to my surprise in my early twenties was when I first found out who made it and he wasn't black. He's a great artist no matter what color he is and I'll always love this song.
