Sam Panlilio set the goofy tone and pace of #HerStory immediately in the opening scene when, after enjoying a sip from a cup while standing on a balcony, she let loose a shout of "Cavitena ako" - with a detectable Americanized pronunciation of "ako", mind you - that reverberated to some folks below her house and who reacted amused by what they heard. She then followed up with a laughingly delivered, "Ay, palaban!" And in just those 20 seconds into the video, Miss Cavite was able to spin the content of the video on her own terms and about the person that probably not a lot of people, especially pageant fans, know about: a funny, down-to-earth, unpretentious SamPan who's very much involved in her family's agricultural business from where her advocacy of empowering farmers for sustainable agriculture organically grew. But even in trying to show us some hands-on activities of her chosen cause, she was able to make visual examples, such as how to ride a carabao or walking on a rough farm road and tripping, some things to smile if not outright laugh about. Happily, her entertaining personality went on to also serve up the many touristic sights and culinary offerings of Cavite as well as educated the viewers on the historical facts that made her province the "historic capital of the Philippines." So Ms. Panlilio definitely aced this MUPh 2023 assignment. Kudos!
