Hi guys! That's me! I was definitely nervous and fangirling the whole time! 😅 Lol This class was absolutely pivotal for Future and me! I wish you guys could have seen him at home vs in class - changing the environment helped so, SO much! I was finally able to successfully target him after this, and now he steps up for me reliably and consistently, and we are making such wonderful progress! Thanks Jamie and Dave for such an amazing experience! They are a fantastic teaching duo and it was an honor to have a Masterclass with them! We absolutely will be doing another if we get the chance! Much love! ✌️ ❤ 🦜

He seems like a lovely bird. I think she's mistaking him using his beak to check her hand is stable, for him going to bite her.

I was! He is lightning fast with his biting. If you guys saw the pictures/damage where he degloved someone's thumb at his Rescue, you'd be nervous too! Lol 😅 But we are better now! This class really helped turn a page for us and made such a positive difference! 😊

The way she held the stick made ME a bit nervous. Not only did she feel like she was terrified, but the angle the stick was coming from is really what stood out to me. From the bird’s view, it would be hard to see it even was a stick and not just a dot because the whole foreshortening of the angle would swallow the length and perspective of the stick. I wouldn’t register well how far it was from me and how much I’d need to stretch to reach it. Whenever my birds are insecure about touching the target, coming from a greater angle (almost holding it fully vertically in some cases) helps each time. Low key would think she’d want to poke my eye out if I was the bird 😅

We have been working for a few months to get a step up. My grey used to but doesn't want to anymore. I am taking my time and watching his cues, hoping he will decide to trust me again. He seems to really enjoy training for everything else. Fingers crossed!

I think we mention it quite a bit, especially in the in home consult or masterclass settings. This video comes to mind of a good example of it but I’m sure there’s more: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dIRmro-gYNXOdqg.htmlsi=p5byzbB1nYp5zlSJ we should probably do an updated video on just chatting about the topic though!

Yes. That's the first thing I check, my own energy, before I approach and interact with my flock. I would calm myself down , before interacting with them.

Big birds are intimidating for most people because they use their beaks like a hand so when they want to step on you they might use their beak to check its stable, not necessarily going to bite you.

I have adopted a 30 yo African Grey who doesn’t seem to like nut treats. I’ve tried several, but he never gets excited about any of them. His previous owner gave him whatever he was eating. Can anyone give me a list of what else I can try for incentive treats?

Remove the food in the evening. In the morning, offer him a few food treats in his dish, and check what he eats first. That's your training food. Keep it for training so it's a special time with a special reward. Remove the food several hours before you want to train your parrot. If he's not hungry, there is little motivation to train with food rewards. I had a parrot that was crazy for sunflower seeds. He would do anything for it and learned very cool tricks. My current parrot dosen't like sunflower seeds much, but might pay attention for a bit of a whole-grain cracker. He's old though ( late adoption ). Motivation levels aren't what they used to. 🤣

in a flight, where they can easily get a few meters away from each other, maybe ... in teh same cage, no. lovebird hens are far too aggressive to share a cage with anyone but their mate -- and even then sometimes you have to separate them because the hen wants eggs and the male is confused about it (and she'll ask by biting!)
