You have to remember that this song came out like 3 yrs into the Iraq/Afghanistan War where images of war were flooding cable tv and internet. Mothers holding their children and screaming, etc. Plus the general murder and fckry that goes on everyday in the world.

dopest it's not the best word to describe it. I think it's the most lucid lyrics i ever seen. The world try to kill us every day but we survive because of our ancestor taken the supremacy over the world and put us in a more secure world but if we go into the wild no one che save us from nature.

I remember leaving work at 10:45a so I could be at Hastings at 11 to buy this CD the day it came out. Then I sat out in my Wrangler in the parking lot and absolutely blared this song. The Wrangler had the back seat out and a sub box took its location. I was one of those guys. Still love this song to this day (along with all of the other ones)

I feel like most of this album has a “groove.” the pot, Jambi, vicarious; even Rosetta stoned. I feel like Danny, and even Justin, were really being influenced by whatever it is they were listening to at the time and inspired by it. This album just has a “feel.”

Can't believe you referenced Still Life with Woodpecker by Tom Robbins. Has to be at least 25 years since I last read it. One of the things I love about Tom is the fun he has with metaphors. Whenever I think of SLwW, the first thing that comes to mind is his assertion that Sunday morning is a fat white cat farting footballs... something to that effect, at least. Thanks for the great reactions to Tool you two. Spaghettios!

Dont be scared to pause to discuss on these more straight forward songs, getting a feel for the lyrics and the direction is good for understanding the lyrics to come (audibly). Tough job for you to find the right spot to pause not to disrupt the musical drops and flows, but I feel like you have done a good job so far. Thanks for the content!

Opening track after a 5-year wait after an absolutely epic album. Think they nailed it. And like y'all say, different than the "spiritual" direction after Lateralus. MJK's back in the muck here with the Vicarious sneer and sass. It's interesting to me how "real" and heavy 10,000 Days hits... thinking in context vs. the way Lateralus lands. Great journey!

Pull your head on out your hippie haze and give a listen we shouldn’t have to say it all again. The universe is hostile so impersonal devour to survive so it is so it’s always been.” Yes I have it memorized but of course. Just waiting to see if there’s a reaction to it. Many people watch the suffering of others to remember or realize that their life can always be worse. "I lost my job today, but hey, at least I didn't get shot.". Some people try to say it's mean or evil to voyeur other's pain, but not for me. I actually enjoy crying out of empathy/sympathy and yes, it makes me feel better about all of the crap I've been through. It could always be worse. I don't believe "most of use are sheltered". Most people know pain, suffering, violence, hate, evil, etc very well...

I think this also has to do with the concept of your 'shadow' that they often use. If you don't accept or choose to ignore and bury your darker/bad/uncomfortable/deeper facets, you'll never work and grow through it and come out as a better/more developed human, and could instead be "consumed" by it. Like, you are to be willing to step through your shadow and swing on the spiral to then become pneuma, heheh.

  • @KeviNOlighT

Oh, also, it makes sense for this album to be darker, since it's quite inspired by the very tragic, but very inspiring and moving story of Maynard's mom and his experience with it, through the whole 10 000 days (one of my top tracks ever, Jambi, and Wings pt 1 & 2, jump to mind, among others).

I recommend making a reaction to one of the best vocalists in the world. In her first significant vocal TV show project, in which this girl won, the judges called her a “shaman girl.” Meet Diana Ankudinova! Diana has the title - Queen of Goosebumps. Challenge yourself, can you resist the charm of her voice? One of the last comments about Diana's voice: Pffff.... her voice is really very special, unclassifiable, atypical, out of the ordinary... 💖 1) super unique voice (dramatic contralto with polyphonic overtones); 2) the most complex vocal techniques, a bewitching voice; 3) Diana sings in 6 languages : English, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Arabic and any musical genre; 4) incredible charisma, artistry and living of any song; 5) a vocal range of 4 octaves; 6) a large army of fans around the world; 7) an independent artist, without producers and labels, only with the support of fans and reactors like you; 8) more than 20 thousand reactions (all collected in my playlists). The incredible fate of a girl found with a broken collarbone at a bus stop and ended up in an orphanage.

I just want to draw attention to the line "...so it is, so it's always been" Notice it does not talk about how the future will be. Taken along with "Credulous at best, your desire to believe in Angels in the hearts of men." To me this still leaves the door open to choosing another path. To have access to this path we MUST accept the biological & cultural heritage of selfish violence. To deny it is to be subjected to it again and again.
