Her Childhood Was A Nightmare In Foster Care

Ойын-сауық

Welcome to Unfiltered Stories, where we provide a platform for individuals to share their personal journeys and experiences. In today's episode, we are honored to have Tina Green as our guest. Tina's life has been marked by significant challenges, including her time in the foster care system and the difficulties she faced during that period. Growing up, Tina encountered numerous obstacles and hardships that no child should ever have to endure. Despite the adversity she faced, Tina's resilience and strength have allowed her to overcome those trying times.
Having witnessed firsthand the limitations and shortcomings of the foster care system, Tina has dedicated herself to making a positive change in the lives of others who have shared similar experiences. She has established a nonprofit organization that focuses on providing housing and essential resources to young adults who have aged out of the foster care system. Through her tireless efforts, Tina aims to ensure that these individuals have the support and opportunities they need to thrive and build successful lives. Join us as we explore Tina's inspiring story of perseverance, compassion, and the power of turning adversity into a driving force for positive change.

When I was a kid, I was a homebody. I remember wondering why some kids never went or wanted to go home. It never occurred to me when I was young what other young people were going through. I've been thinking of volunteering as a CASA. I'm so happy that you and your children are thriving.

Same here. I used to be mad because some kids could stay out late every night or go anywhere and nobody cared or didn’t have to ask permission. In my case, I had to be inside at a certain time and couldn’t go anywhere. I appreciate that and I realized those friends had so much going on at home and their parents didn’t care where they were. I vividly remembered a friend who had a step father and was scared to go in the house when her mother wasn’t there. Kids go through a lot.

I grew up in dysfunction and abuse. But my parents weren't strict with me going anywhere. If I spent nights away from home, I'd miss it after a while. I'm learning about trauma bonds, I believe that's what I dealt with. I didn't want to live there, but I did feel more comfortable being home. So strange.🤔

Same. I was in foster care from 1 to 13. I was sexually abused, physically.abused. Started at birth, I was an alcoholic baby with the shakes.taken away at 1 yr old. At 5 yrs old the foster mom locked me in the bathroom with straight ammonia and no windows & I only had on panties. I thought I was gonna die. Been to foster home to foster home. I been to a real orphanage home when I had to wait for a family. I was sexually abused, I was neglected, dirty, head lice. It was bad. I try not to let my mind go there.

This is why I’m a foster parent myself, I group up in foster care myself, even though I was placed with family it wasn’t a good place to live, I only foster baby’s from newborn to 2yrs old, and I pray for older children, I understand how hard it is, I’ve seen a lot of older children get hurt and bounced from home to home, I want to be placed with older children who needs a change but they have been damaged so badly that by the time they get to a nice home they still struggle with trusting. After watching this I’m going to keep my doors open for any older child who’s needs the extra support and ready for a better life, thank you for being brave and saying the truth.

Tina, I’m so glad you’re in a better situation in life, and with two beautiful children and a supportive partner. You were so brave and amazing to fight for your son and to do what you had to do to take care of your children. You were done incredibly wrong as a child, but you didn’t stay down or allow those circumstances to ruin your life. Love and many blessings to you and your family as you continue to care for and uplift those who need people like you so very much.♥️
