My iPhone home button won’t work anymore. I was at a festival the other day and got on the gravitron and when I got stuck to the wall I thing it squished my phone and now the home button just don’t want to work. Can I fix this on my own? And if not around how much would it cost for me to go somewhere and get it fixed?

Rust is a loose term for a type of oxidization that effects steel or any iron based metal. That looks like copper so it isn't rust. It's corrosion aka oxidization. Probably sped up by moisture acting as an electrolyte.

You have no idea how difficult it is to repair them. Look at the video. Damage will be permanent and no one is gonna replace one small thing just for it to break again.

Tried it at home. worked great. Used a tiny screwdriver, and a led magnifying glass used for soldering.

This guy is super ethical, which in turn makes the whole repair industry more ethical. Now everyone that sees this guy's videos expects good service from all repair shops. Those that aren't good quality won't last. Thanks dude.

If you use fiberglass scratch pens, it's super easier to clean contacts. Hope it helps.

Instead of a microscope and isopropyl alcohol, I have a really radical solution: A pencil eraser. No really. Stick a pencil eraser in there and gently erase the corrosion.

Use a q-tip with some alcohol, or buy a can of electrical contact cleaner and spray it on a q-tip then clean. Also, try to always wipe off your ear buds before inserting them into the box. The salt in sweat is what causes the corrosion.

I think I've seen 1 or 2 video where he rejected a repair because he didn't have the capability of doing so, but I couldn't recall what the item was, I could be wrong though.

first you can try just using some q-tips and see if that cleans on contact points off enough. i’ve noticed its not all ways corrosion like rust it can also be just dirt or lint from your pocket
